Joseph Bosserman Fellowships
Provides support to graduate students in the School of Architecture to the extent that it is used for payment for tuition, fees, room, board and other educational expenses. Named in honor of former dean Joseph Norwood Bosserman, who led the School from 1966-1980.</p>

To provide fellowships to graduate students in the Department of Architecture.</p>
<p>Bevin and Vito Cetta Endowed Scholarship Fund
To provide financial aid to one or more deserving undergraduate or graduate students of African-American descent who are enrolled full-time in the University of Virginia School of Architecture.</p>
<p>William D. Darden Memorial Fund
To encourage the pursuit of scholarship related to architecture through travel either in this country or abroad. Recently the fund has been used to support the Venice and Vicenza foreign study programs. The fund was established by the Friends of William D. Darden (BSArch’53) after he died in 1958.</p>
<p>Bessie and Ernest L. Gilliland Endowed Fellowship Fund
To provide fellowships to undergraduate and/or graduate students on the basis of demonstrated academic achievement and the potential for making a significant impact on the physical environment.</p>
<p>Ella R. and Milton L. Grigg Endowed Scholarship Fund
To award scholarships to students enrolled in the University of Virginia School of Architecture. The endowment is the result of the sale of property given to Mrs. Grigg in honor of her husband, a deceased local architect.</p>
<p>Jefferson C. and Catherine F. Grinnalds Scholarship
To provide a scholarship or scholarships for students who are in need of financial assistance and plan to study Urban and Environmental Planning. The scholarship was established in recognition of the Grinnalds 50th anniversary.</p>
<p>Kenneth R. Higgins Fellowship in Landscape Architecture
Awarded annually to a graduate student in the Department of Landscape Architecture who demonstrates promise as a landscape architect and whose career objective is to be an active practitioner.</p>
<p>Frederic Lord Holloway Endowed Scholarship Fund
To provide scholarships to students enrolled in the University of Virginia School of Architecture. The fund was established in memory of Frederic Lord Holloway (CLAS’74) by his parents.</p>
<p>Benjamin C. Howland Traveling Fellowship in Landscape Architecture
Awarded annually to a graduate student in the Department of Landscape Architecture to enable him or her to support travel which will further his or her professional education.</p>
<p>Kyle Frances Kauffman Honorary Scholarship
Awarded to a rising fourth year architectural student based on merit and who embodies all the qualities that typified Kyle Kauffman (BSArch’85).</p>
<p>Laura Kaye Scholarship
Provides support to an undergraduate student in the School of Architecture based on financial need.</p>
<p>Peter R. Kutscha Endowed Memorial Scholarship in Historic Preservation
Provides a scholarship to a School of Architecture graduate or undergraduate student or students, based primarily on financial need with consideration to merit, who has a proven interest in the study of historic preservation.</p>
<p>Lambert Woods Architects Scholarship Fund
To provide a scholarship for a graduate student to study in the Venice Program.</p>
<p>Sarah Mcarthur Nix Traveling Fellowship for the Study of Architecture in France
To provide an annual fellowship to one student in the Department of Architecture for summer travel in France.</p>
<p>James Pate Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship, established by the Virginia Citizens Planning Association in memory of James E. Pate, is specifically for students of city planning.</p>
<p>Carlo Pelliccia Traveling Fellowship for Study in Italy
Provides funds for a student to spend a period of independent study in Rome, Italy. Named in honor and memory of a beloved professor.</p>
<p>Venetan Fellowship for Study in the Veneto
Provides fellowships to students in the School of Architecture who study abroad as part of the School’s programs in Vicenza and Venice, Italy.</p>
<p>Mary and Robert Vickery Endowed Scholarship
Provides traveling funds for rising 4th year student who demonstrates exceptional talent. Created by Professor Emeritus and Mrs. Vickery.
IN MEMORIAM AND IN HONOR OF GIVING</p>
<p>Stanley and Helen Abbott Scholarship
Mr. Abbott was the National Park Services first superintendent of the Blue Ridge Parkway. This award, which is presented annually, was established by Stanley W. Abbott’s family and friends after his death in 1975.</p>
<p>Paul S. Dulaney Memorial Fund
This cash award is given to a student enrolled in the graduate planning program of the Department of Urban and Environmental Planning. The fund was created in 1973 in memory of Paul S. Dulaney, creator of the Bachelor of City Planning program.</p>
<p>Benjamin C. Howland Traveling Fellowship
The Fellowship shall be awarded annually to a graduate student in the Department of Landscape Architecture to support research-related travel.</p>
<p>Duncan J. Mccrea Endowed Memorial Fund
To award a prize at graduation to an undergraduate student who has demonstrated academic achievement and concern for spiritual values. This fund was established in memory of Duncan J. McCrea (BSArch’75).</p>
<p>Frederick Doveton Nichols Award
For financial assistance to undergraduate or graduate students in Architectural History who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and promise of professional excellence. The award was established upon Professor Nichols retirement in 1982 by his friends and colleagues.</p>
<p>Robert L. Plavnick Outstanding Student Award
To recognize an exceptionally talented student in the Department of Urban and Environmental Planning.</p>
<p>Lori Ann Pristo Award
An annual award to a graduating student in Architecture who has attained the highest degree of academic achievement leading to the professional degree of Master of Architecture. Award established by Robert Pristo in honor of his daughter Lori Ann Pristo (MArch’81).</p>
<p>Sean Steele-Nicholson Endowed Memorial Fund
To award a prize at graduation to a student who, like Sean (BSArch’91), exhibited an overall excellence in design and scholarship and an enthusiasm, joy, and wonder for architecture, coupled with the ability to instill these same feelings and qualities in others.
