Are asians gradually becoming perceived as a threat?

lol. give me a mathematical way to express the definition of “creativity”

Either way,

rebuttals?

what leads us to believe that asian americans will continue this trend of high-pressure education?

i personally think that as asian kids grow tired of the environment in which they grew up, they will begin to not raise their own families that way. This will continue to progress through a few generations until the performance gap is substantially narrowed.

I feel just the contrary. As more and more people become aware of the opportunities offered by prestigious institutions, they no doubtedly would want their children to live a good life in the future.

I just did. It’s called dictionary.com
If you’d like to dispute the meaning of words, go right ahead. Don’t expect anyone to take you seriously.

Either way? Sorry, try a little harder with your cop outs.

As to your question; sure, there are asian artists. Just as there are white mathematicians and black engineers. This isn’t Warcraft. They obviously appeal to their own culture, and not so much to others, or they’d be more popular. And it’s not like Asians are an overwhelming minority in the US; Blacks make up a slightly larger percentage yet contribute to “creative” professions in the US much more than Asians, statistically.

pandem, you never actually addressed the focus of the original post.

and please quit it with the way you throw that word around, “creativity.”
An artist is no more creative than an engineer, an engineer is no less creative than an artist.
An artist is more creative at art than an engineer. An engineer is more creative at engineering than an artist.

Don’t you get it…? No one here is gonna claim that albert einstein (yes, a white man) wasn’t creative just because he’s an outstanding physicist, and judging by your posts, you probably think physics is dull, boring, and uncreative too. get over it

IBfootballer, I said something about that on one of the other pages, and yeah it seems to make sense.

Spending your life studying and missing out on life is hardly “the good life”.

I’ve shot your points down numerous times and you continue to just ignore me, so…

To the original topic (as if you ever care about the answer, bringing it up now on the third page) sure, I’m guessing that Asians will become more integrated into American society, just as Hispanics and Blacks will. But Americans have been successful because of their creativity, balance and adaptability. There’s a reason the best design typically comes from America or western Europe. Ipod, anyone?

Another issue is a lot of the entertainment business is very unethical and frankly has no moral values at all. Asians tend to have more moral values than blacks or whites, and thus don’t go into the entertainment business.

lol…the sour grape syndrome i see.
now you resort to this method since you dont have anything else to argue…

@pandem

I don’t quite understand what you are trying to prove in this thread. Care to refresh me?

How is sour grapes relevant? He could spend all of his time studying, if he wanted.

**You are creating your own interpretations, your own understanding, something much more deep than a westerner can understand **

whereas if a black man or a white man decided to scribble on a sheet of paper and call it “art”, then it would have a higher chance of being accepted than if an asian man were to do that. that’s america’s entertainment industry

**sians tend to have more moral values than blacks or whites, and thus don’t go into the entertainment business. **

Yup, I think we can declare you two racists.

And no, sorry I’m not “sour”. Life is about balance; balance between work and play, study and social life. Spending the rest of my life in a book isn’t my idea isn’t fun, but may be yours.

I think we can declare you a racist as well.

I’m not trying to prove anything. It’s obvious that certain cultures excel at certain things, and silly to assume otherwise. German are good at engineering, Swiss at watches and chocolate, French and Italians at art, etc. etc. etc. Asian cultures tend to be good at math and engineering.

well, seeing that asians and indians are still alive, and it requires you to sleep, eat, and have fun to be alive, i think that nullifies your point completely.

You ever see Gran Torino?

Clint Eastwood would agree.

Please, show me where I stated that:

Asians can’t comprehend art
Asian art is just scribble
Asians have low moral values

tool

Why are you so defensive? It’s just that reading through this thread, where everyone’s arguments and counterarguments are so convoluted, I want to know what sparked everything.
