Are My Grades Ok?

Hi! i’m currently a freshman and I just wanted to know if my grade are good enough for the Ivies. (I’m a Canadian if that makes a difference) I’m in the most rigorous courses that are offered at my school (I am going to be self-studying AP’s next year, since they aren’t offered at my school).

French: 98
Science: 96
Math: 97
Gym: 94
English: 99
Tech: 95
Music: 97

Are these grades decent? What would they be converted into American GPA?

Unlike Canadian schools, you will need top grades, top SAT/ACT test scores, top EC’s and outstanding recommendations. You will need all if you are aiming for the Ivies.

thanks.

What school are you in? 99 in English seriously? Nobody in my school gets 95 in all subjects. BTW you are not taking Geography? Im also a freshman in Canada.

lol whoops. I guess I forgot about Geo. I got a 95 in it last semester. My school is not really that competitive, so there’s not a lot of 95’s in all subjects either.

they look at rank more, as u said, if many get 95+, then they know its very easy

Grade inflation in Canada is a longstanding issue, ever since we got rid of provincial tests. Self-studying APs is a good idea. What really matters is your SAT and your class rank. These are the only objective measures of a student.

Yes there is grade inflation at many high schools, but there are still provincial tests… I took the grade 12 provincial exams in Pre-Calculus and English as a junior and scored 95+%. Please don’t point to, or in this case, blatantly blame a person’s high marks and scholastic success on grade inflation.

Damn your school must have ridiculous grade inflation… here in BC Canada an 86%+ is a 4.0 GPA and only the top few students get straight A’s. A 90% average is considered amazing and I don’t think anyone has gotten a 99% in the past few years. Now I’m worried my extremely hard to get 95% average will look bad in the eyes of admissions officers…
