are Religious people mentally Ill?

No, but those who believe so probably are.

haha
i just spent minutes reading everyone’s looonnnggg replies. and then i glimpsed down and chuckled.

Alone- your logic fails because not believing in an afterlife actually increases the value of our mortal lives ( because it’s all we have). Also, a lack of god does not = lack of morals.

The mental weakness in this paragraph is appalling.

It contains two reprehensible reasons for choosing to believe in something:

1) An appeal to tradition: It’s gotta be true because all the old people and the old people who came before them said so and wrote it down! Never mind thinking for myself!

2) Choosing what to believe based on self-interest: The most important aspect of choosing to believe in something is how it will benefit me. Me! Me! Me! And those I love.

No, just because your beliefs differ from theirs does not make them mentally ill, and thinking so makes you an ignorant moron. Go read a book.

The difference is that if it could be proven tomorrow that somehow our senses are indeed deluded, then science would immediately scrap all previous work based on the idea that our senses were accurate. Going further, if science could prove a god, then it would be its most dedicated follower.

Religion does not do the same. Religion would not scrap the idea of a god if the idea came into great doubt.

All you have to do is look at any of the religious posts here. Some people have some wacky drawn out answers. Like all they do all day is type the bible into the computer. They are like the people at the beach on the boardwalk who carry the cross around and hand out things with religious stuff on it. But there are lots of priests who are cool and normal, but theres alot of other kinds of people who are a bit caried away.
