@Ashley102399 per my kid, at least some CCM notifications are out. A friend of hers was accepted a couple of days ago, not sure of specific tech area
@lazs91 stage management
@Bubblewrap666 I have had some friends accepted to the acting program, but not any tech areas, so this is good to know!
@Ashley102399 keep me posted- you both might be heading to Webster together
Good luck to you both @lazs91 and @Ashley102399 !
@MAMATO2BOYS - My D recently expressed mild interest in Coastal Carolina; what did you like and not like about it, if you have time? And good luck with CCM decision!
@gatormama, my D applied to Coastal but it was one of the last interviews she scheduled and she ultimately withdrew her app and cancelled the interview when she got her first acceptance. At that point, she was just tired of traveling for interviews and wanted to focus on the spring musical. In any case, they recruit hard (tons of mail) and notify on academic admit and financial aid early. Depending on grades, of course, they were generous with merit aid (including a laptop) and, at least at the college fair at D’s school last fall, in need of theatre tech students. They also have majors in marine, ecology and conservation sciences–which I think you said she might also be interested in?
@Gatormama Coastal is a mid-sized school with a very traditional campus. The professor we met with was passionate and well connected. They seemed to offer diverse lighting design program with traditional theatrical lighting as well as some attention paid to architectural lighting. The program was small as most are. Coastal has a VERY strong MTA program which my son is leaning towards wanting to design for. They also had a lower cost than some of the other schools we are looking at and offered a nice scholarship based on his academic standings. The campus if VERY traditional southern campus with beautiful brick building and it is just 20 mins from Myrtle Beach. If a student doesn’t want a BIG CITY it’s a great alternative.
Thanks so much!
WHAHOOOO! S was accepted at CCM today. WL at DePaul. Accepted to Coastal and Purdue. The final decision is his and I know he’ll make a great one! I’m a #proudDramaMama today and am excited about MY future in theatre with a Lighting Designer as a son. The Financial Aid info isn’t all reported yet so once we get better numbers he can make the call.
@MAMATO2BOYS how did he find out about CCM???
I haven’t been on here for a while. Big congratulations on all the great acceptances!!! Such talented kids!
@MAMATO2BOYS congrats!! If you need any info about the area, let me know. We live a mile down the street in the same neighborhood as CCM. It’s a yes for my D at Emerson today!
Congrats to @MAMATO2BOYS and @momof2lefties !!!
@MAMATO2BOYS My 11th grade S is hoping to attend CCM next year for lighting design. Would you be willing to answer some questions for us?
Just got accepted to SUNY Purchase for tech!! Still waiting on several schools, especially CCM, but I’m very excited!!
My D has been accepted to Webster for lighting tech! So excited! That’s it- she only applied to 3 schools 2 with BFA’s and one BA- accepted to all academically and accepted to Webster and UoA artistically! I wonder which she’ll choose!
Congrats @Ashley102399 & @lazs91 !
Congrats to all of this year’s tech candidates. My S17 is finishing up his freshman year and is planning to declare a lighting concentration next year. I have to say that the actual work on being a BFA tech student is a lot harder than I thought it would be. I sort of encouraged him because I thought it would be easier than a BA, but it’s not… However, he does really like it and feels he made the right choice.
Does anyone know when I would hear from CCM for stage management?? I interviewed January 20th and still haven’t heard back and I just really wanna know if any decisions have gone out for SMs yet
