As a Californian, I perceived this as quite true. From my school, many people (Asians) who focused more on EC (Key Club) rather than academic are usually accepted and I believe their SAT scores never hit the 1900 or 2000, except for some of the top 10 of my school. Because UC schools have subpar students, some of my friends believe I might as well apply to a more prestigious school. (Oh yeah, any Californians saw the news about UC Davis: prejudice against Jews and gays and rapes during Picnic Day?) Moreover, the failing California budget is ruining the UC education. However, I will be applying to some of the UC schools but also schools out of state.

The schools that spammed me excessively after the PSAT are Dominican University, Carroll College, Concordia University of Chicago, Pratt University, DePaul College (mind you, not DePauw), and basically any other school that thinks someone with a 2000+ on the SAT could go if the school’s not one bit competitive. I also can’t stand the extremely religious schools.

I don’t think the UC’s have subpar students. Berkeley and UCLA are among the top public schools in the country, and my school has very good success with UC acceptances.

lol actually you’re right. I totally forgot now that College Hockey is over and I wasn’t thinking about sports

I have this blind hatred for UVM, BU, BC, and Denver:
UVM isn’t even better than UMaine academically, but people think it is. Also, Maine has a better hockey team, even now
BU and BC both get so much credit as being the best teams in Hockey East just because all of the games are on NESN which is based in Boston. Guess who was the leading scorer in the NCAA this year? Gustav Nyquist from Maine. Not anyone from BU or BC. Northeastern and UMass generally suck, so it’s all good :b
Denver totally robbed Maine of the national championship in 2004. I was watching the game, and I’m pretty sure saw them call back that Maine goal in the first period, and they ended up losing 1-0. It was totally lame. They need to get rid of the skate in the crease rule. Goaltender interference is one thing, but he wasn’t even near the goalie on that play.

^^ Duke is just very hatable I guess. Even my parents that went to UConn hate Duke basketball, and I’ve always heard that Duke grads are generally d*****y

haha I think I’m the only one on here that actually likes Duke’s athletics…it’s probably only because I think J.J. Redick and Jon Scheyer are cuties, though

And I don’t think I hate any school, either…just despise a couple schools that waitlisted me

i’m not a big fan of uf, just because i’m a seminole fan. haha.
not a big fan of UM either or harvard or stonybrook or nyu because they pestered me to my limit with junk mail, real junk mail. D:
duke is overrated as well.

I lived in Florida for the first thirteen years of my life. My dad grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee, where the University of Tennessee is. Consequently, I HATE University of Florida with a burning passion. Gainesville is a crappy town and extremely dirty and unpleasant. Also, the Gators will always suck in my mind.

I’m also not a fan of the university in my hometown, Tennessee Technological University. It’s a fallback option for most of the kids at my high school and you pretty much go there when you flunk out of everything else - or run out of money.

My big name hate is Johns Hopkins. Having grown up in Baltimore, Hopkins has always been a presence in my life. I can’t deny it’s amazing academics, but I will say that its main campus(which is one of those awful urban campuses) runs through a seedy section of the city and
isn’t safe for your average nerd.
As a Marylander, Morgan State blows. I have no problem with the premise of HBCUs, but the average SAT composite for it’s freshmen is
close to my math and CR combined score. Its admissions is a joke and it’s a breeding grounds for illegitimate children.
