are these the ivy-feeder high schools with the highest average sat scores in the Us?

St, John’s School- median SAT score of 2185

Thomas Jefferson high school- average sat score of 2155

Which other ivy feeder high schools can match up to these schools?

just wondering

I am nearly sure Boston Latin would be another, you could do research but I know that this school is I believe in the top 10 or 20 and produces many many ivy league bound students. (Unless things have changed there lately)

I suppose I’ll do NYC.

Stuyvesant High School: Avg CR+M score of 1408, and assuming that W is probably about 700 that’s 2108.

Hunter College High School: Avg SAT score of 2156.

(stats are from their respective Wikipedia pages)

im assuming wre only talking public schools?

t_c, you’ve neglected Regis, Spence, Brearley, Horace Mann, Collegiate, etc.

There are a good number of high schools that fall within the range of those averages, or even surpass them.

kwu: I decided to only do public, since that’s what I thought this thread was focusing on.

Though, since you ask:

Brearley: 727 CR, 690 M.

That’s the only one that’s on Wikipedia.

here’s the list

If we are including privates throw in two good schools from St. Louis, Missouri

MICDS Rams - 2200

John Burroughs Bombers - 2300

2300?

that’s not true

How well do students perform on standard national examinations?
JBS: Nineteen members of the Class of 2009 have been named National Merit/Achievement Semifinalists, and another 30 have received letters of commendation. For the past seven years, Burroughs has had the highest percentage of semifinalists in the State of Missouri. The median SAT scores for the Class of 2008 were 710 on math, 700 on writing and 700 on critical reading. The median ACT score for the Class of 2008 was 31.

Sorry, got numbers from different source (prep review). Of course the school is going to tell the truth so you are right.

There are some selective admit programs within public high schools that have SAT averages that are in the 2150-2250 range. They don’t show up on these lists because they represent only a part of the overall HS class.

This topic is making me depressed. I was invited in my Sophomore year to join Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts. I felt like I wasn’t ready. Biggest mistake of my entire life.

The boarding preps:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/prep-school-admissions/584878-us-best-boarding-schools-top-30-list.html

what are some exampl of those programs

“This topic is making me depressed. I was invited in my Sophomore year to join Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts. I felt like I wasn’t ready. Biggest mistake of my entire life.”

So you went to the school and it turns out you were ready, so u were wrong in thinking u werent ready? that doesnt seem like such a big mistaice

The Collegiate School in NYC has an absurdly high average SAT score and placement record for colleges. I know quite a few kids from Collegiate.

country day…in MO everyone takes the ACT. only a self-selected group of students who are shooting for top schools takes the SAT, so it’s misleading to say that a school has a 2300 SAT average when perhaps 10 students took the test

As somebody from Missouri, that is not true. Everybody at my high school took both tests.

the big nyc privates (chapin, brearley, dalton, collegiate, etc.) plus the boarding schools like Exeter, Groton, L’ville, Andover, etc.
My sister went to Penn and like 20 of her friends went to germantown frriends
