Are these Universities good enough for an International seeking low contribution? [3.78 GPA, rank 1]

Yes, that is what I meant. My humor went dry.

I’ll look onto it thank you.

Coalition writes this about their essays:

Select a prompt from the list below, and share an essay of about 500-650 words that will help admissions counselors get to know you.

While Common doesn’t list it’s essay length, all the third party sites are also showing up to 650. I know that’s what it used to be.

Again, I think you are over thinking…everything.

Pick the one that covers the most schools that you want to apply to.

Coalition is more practical and makes more sense for a high-end international. :+1:

I think I am mistaken, I was saying about individual college prompts.

I have already done my essay it’s about 650 words

The process is really hard for me, so I am just looking carefully and overthinking does exist because It seems quite eccentric that I could abroad through just an application.

High-end in terms of finances I believe?

Thank you.

Thank you

I am not putting GPA. my marks situation is a bit weird for my 9th class. They use grades such as A1,A2… D1,D2. rest all should be raw marks

Thank you

I am looking into all of these currently and the acceptance for International aid is quite vague sadly.

and oh boy there are lot of universities with a similar name you have mentioned, I will go through them.

They have deadlines around december

Thank you

Does not support international much sadly, especially for cs programs.

Yes, it’s just an application, but what many of us keep trying to tell you is that you really, really need a Plan B for a college that is not in the US, because the combination of being high-financial-need and not one of the very, very best applicants from your country means you are extremely likely to either not get any acceptances OR to get acceptances that you cannot afford. So it really would be in your own best interest to pick one or two colleges in the US so you can say you gave it a shot, and then spend most of the energy you are spending on this process instead looking at colleges in India or elsewhere where this combination of factors doesn’t work against you so much. There were posts above that gave you a number of international options outside of the US – have you looked at them? And even if you don’t want to go to college in the part of India where you live – can you go elsewhere in your country to get an education?

And then you can look to the US for grad school if that is still something you want.

I wish you well – I really do – but I see you spending so much time and energy on a US education that is so stacked against you and that time and energy could instead be spent getting you closer to what you want (a good college education not where you live).

Troy is out unfortunately. Sorry. I was hoping it wasn’t. Best of luck.

Good Afternoon,

Unfortunately, International students do not qualify for our merit scholarships. I am so sorry!

I am looking into every single source that I can.

In addition, I will retake the SAT too. I don’t know if it is a waste of my energy.

I literally have 40 colleges in my coalition and commonapp that I am planning to apply. I just don’t want to miss my chance.

Thank you

Thank you so much for contacting.

Please make a spreadsheet of any and all of the supplemental essays that will be required for these applications so that you can plan your work accordingly.

And please don’t let your efforts on this regard take up so much time that you do not have time to apply to colleges that are affordable somewhere other than the US.

@MYOS1634 — any words of wisdom to add since OP plans to apply to 40 US colleges?

I am not sure how you are getting to 40 colleges. I think any college you apply to must meet one of the two following requirements:

  1. Meets full-need for international students OR

  2. Has a merit scholarship that will bring your costs down to what you can afford.

Otherwise, there is really no point in applying.
Also, most colleges with holistic admissions (which will be most of the colleges on your list) will have one or more supplemental essays that you will have to write. Please make sure you budget time for all of this while still keeping up your current schoolwork and applying to non-US colleges because it is very likely that even with 40 schools, you will not have an acceptance that you can afford.

That was supposed to read “high-need” but I didn’t catch this autocorrect! Yes, you got it in spite of the wrong word being used.. in terms of finances.

Yes, I am strictly keeping this criteria in mind.

I will apply to colleges that are in coalition app and if they are not then in common app.

Yes I will, this is a super tough situation for me.

Oh my, that is quite disappointing.

Thank you.

College in the US is expensive and so are the associated living costs. Most colleges do not give enough aid to bring costs down to 12k USD. That is why so many of us are urging you to use your time wisely and to have a non-US plan as well.

And why so many of us who want to help you are trying to keep you from taking your obvious tenacity (which is a wonderful quality) and descending into an inflexibility which could prevent you from achieving your goals.

20 well targeted, likely affordable applications is a much better use of your time than 35 scattershot “Hail Mary” (i.e. very, very small chance of being affordable) applications. And by limiting your numbers, you’ll have time to explore options in India, Australia, other parts of the world where your finances won’t be so problematic.

And have time to focus on academics, since achieving top grades/marks is extremely important for admission to those other colleges (in India and elsewhere).
