In my household and among friends, this clearly falls along gender lines.

Not a bit. Nothing about the royal family has ever interested me.

For employee engagement, we are thinking about having a party next Fri at 7am (when the wedding is here) at our company’s auditorium - $50, champagne, showing the wedding on a big screen. Whatever we don’t spend we would donate to a local charity. We have a lot of Brits here.

What time is it taking place? (Oldfort, where are you located?)

I remember getting up in the middle of the night to watch Prince Charles and Lady Diana get married.

I might TiVo this royal wedding.

What’s the royal wedding? jk

I couldn’t even tell you the names of who’s getting married. I don’t see why anyone, especially an American, would care at all about it unless they just enjoy seeing pomp and ceremony.

I discussed the topic with a colleague of mine in the UK today. He doesn’t care at all about it and in his opinion most brits don’t get too excited about it (or the fact that their tax dollars are supporting it) but he does like the fact that he gets an official day off because of it as apparently do most over there. I don’t know whether his views are typical over there or not.

We are in Mexico, which is central standard time. I have been told that the wedding would be at 7am, but we could pre-game at 6am.

I am moving out of my dorm at 2am that night and will flip on the coverage at 4am. I was planning to have a party, but my dorm moving interfered. :(

I’ve never seen a wedding and am very excited to see this one!

^Ok, but just don’t think MOST weddings are like THIS one!

I want to work for oldfort’s company

I told DH that we might be pulling an all-nighter party. It does not make sense to go to sleep if the party is at 3 am. :)

^^ That’s what I’m doing. I’m taking Thursday and Friday off from work (yes, I’m a serious Anglophile). I plan to get all the sleep I can during the day on Thursday, and stay up all night. I watched Charles and Diana’s wedding live, and Diana’s funeral, so I can hardly stop now!

Both D and DH think it’s ridiculous. No one I’ve talked to IRL will admit that they’ll be watching, but they’re estimating an audience of a billion people. A lot of folks just aren’t fessing up.

The wedding is at 6am Eastern, 3am Pacific. I’m sure there will be hours of coverage leading up to the ceremony.

not one bit.

When Diana was married in 1981, I was living in Chicago dating a very sweet British man. He admitted to getting up in the middle of the night to watch the wedding. I can’t help but wonder if he’ll be up to watch this one…

I will be up early to celebrate the wedding at the British Pub down the street from the office - all the UK exchange students that work there are quite excited about it, even got the tea towels!

OldFort - where do I send a resume???

I’m watching! Have to call D at school and find out what she did with her ballet tiara so that I can be properly attired :)

You don’t get to wear a tiara, only a hat. You will need a proper hat.

Thirty years ago I was up at 4 AM glued to the TV, and had to drag myself away to get to work. For some reason, this time around, I couldn’t care less and probably won’t even turn the set on that morning. I can’t bear the thought of listening to the “analysis” from the morning show talking heads. I am curious about the dress, though, and will spend a little time online reading about it. I wish the young couple the best, but find I’m kind of over the royal family.

:)

There was this little document written a couple of hundred years ago…effectively making them someone else’s royals, not ours. Though try to tell Babawawah that!

No, not interested. It’s a wedding.

“unless they just enjoy seeing pomp and ceremony.”

Pomp and ceremony is pretty cool IMHO. When there’s a coronation, I’ll be very interested to see that. I won’t get up early to watch the wedding, but I’ll probably TiVo it so that I can fast forward to the interesting parts.
