Are you raedy for the storm?

Do keep me posted about the Maine weather…you can send me PMs if you wish. My husband is supposed to drive to Camden, leaving CT about 3 Friday afternoon. Not looking too good!

My local weatherperson put the chance of snow here on Monday as “slight” and when I looked on the Weather Channel for my town they have removed “Snow” from both Monday and Tuesday and only gave a 10% chance of precip on Monday.

So sorry for you all! 72 degrees here now, sunny. (Record high, I believe–KC area). Two weeks of unusually warm/above freezing temps–daffodils are popping up. Barely a trace of snow/ice/rain all month. (Best January ever!) Unfortunately ice/snow/single digit temps will return next week.

Emily…these are the same folks who told you that this blizzard was going to bring 2-3 feet of snow originally…just saying.

I am waiting until the night before to see what the forecast is. I’m not sure they do such a good job five or six days out.

Thumper1, they can’t do an accurate job five days out in regards to a snowstorm. That’s the problem. But today’s society wants to know ahead of time, so some weather outlets just make a prediction, accurate or not, because people want to know.

Back in the day, let’s see, even two years ago, meteorologists would tell you they were “keeping an eye” on a system but it was too early to call. I wish they would go back to forecasting that way again. It was so much more accurate that way.

@thumper1, will do. Right now they’re saying less than 1" Thursday night, 5-8" Friday, and 3-5" Friday night.

“Emily…these are the same folks who told you that this blizzard was going to bring 2-3 feet of snow originally…just saying.”

I am choosing to stay positive.

My mountain was caused by the snow plow, not drifting. Which means it is more compact. I finally found that I could shovel a narrow path right along the garage where the snow was obstructed by a bush. (Of course, while transiting with my bucket of water, I managed to pour some of it down inside my boot! Ack!)

@thumper1, Friday definitely does not look like a good day to drive to Camden! The forecast has changed again, and as of now they are saying 100% chance of wintry mix.

Ok Down Easters. What is it looking like for a drive from central CT to Maine…departing here on Friday mid-afternoon??

I’m hearing 12-15 inches in Lewiston.

I heard the same thing.

We had sleet in the suburban DC area this afternoon. Have not gone out to get the mail yet, as our driveway is sloped.
S2 in BOS said classes resumed today.

@thumper1, The most recent report I heard said that it will be snowing and/r sleeting right at that time. Doesn’t sound promising.

Lovely. I’ll let you all know what happens! My guess…he will go. He is stubborn!

@thumper1, did he go? It basically snowed all day here. Probably accumulated about 5-6 inches. Traffic on the highway was moving at about 45mph in the Portland area most of the time.

We’re supposed to get another foot on Monday, I believe, with lows in the single digits for most of the next week.

He did (see new thread about the new Storm brewing). Left central CT about 3:30 and arrived in Camden about 9:30. Drove through rain and spitting snow, but roads were fine.

It is so cold here (SW CT) this morning that even the dogs don’t want to be outside. Thermometer says 10 degrees, but there is major wind happening.

We are not so bad here SE PA, mid teens. So far this year, we are escaping the worst of it. We got the worst every time last year. i took advantage of the cold and dry air to loosen up a double hung window that was tight and stuck.

It’s 8 degrees now…windchill say minus 10. Brrrr.

Is it just me, or has this been a particularly windy winter?
