That’s the problem right there - Power! I have a million projects I can do at home and we always have enough food that we won’t starve. The minute the power goes out I’m done. All I can think of is when is it coming back on! Total game changer for me. Good luck to everyone these next few days.

I drove north from Connecticut about two hours ago, and it was snowing much heavier there than in Rhode Island…I must have been a little ahead of the storm.
We all have work canceled for tomorrow. Tuesdays I teach four classes back to back, so it’s a significant day off for me. thanks to the internets, I can post discussion board assignments to my students in lieu of class. I feel sort of bad about this–takes away a little from the snow day fantasy. Oh well, want to make sure those college parents get their money’s worth!

Nosily peeking in at this thread from Ohio where we will not be affected by this storm (but praying for you all and some family members I have in NYC)…
It would sure to nice for the noisy reader like me AND the affected reader like lots of you on the east coast if you would put your state or city or general area when you post updates. Helps us who may have family/friends in the area to know what’s going on without bothering them as well!

NW CT posting. It’s flurrying here, and has been for a while. Roads have a small glaze of snow. We are told that the bulk of the snow will happen between midnight and noon tomorrow.
I turned my heat up 5 degrees. Maybe that will help if we lose power. Our generator isn’t that big…it could run the heat…but then nothing else.
Biggest issue here, of course, is the well if the power goes out. We have 10 gallons of water, and I’m filling a bathtub, just in case!
We always have a 5 gallon thing of drinking water.
We should be fine.
Thanks for the reminder, @thumper1. Here in SE NYS we have wells too, but I’ve been so busy getting the pellet stove topped off that I forgot to fill the tub and some extra water bottles. We don’t have much snow yet, though, just a persistent flurry.
It is getting very white outside of my window in NYC.
I am purposefully avoiding any trips to the east coast this week, instead going to Denver, Albuquerque and Burbank. However, I can just see bad luck in my future and the possibility of getting rerouted or diverted into an east coast airport. Good luck everyone! Don’t run out of wine!
Getting white a little windy in NYC. We give the English regents Han of junior year and a lot of kids showed up. NYC public schools closed tomorrow. Tomorrow NYS regents exams in global and integrated algebra have been rescheduled for Thursday.
nothing in terms of snow here yet. My daughter’s school is already cancelled . Something tells me we won;t get much here in SJersey
Central CT here. It’s been snowing lightly for a few hours. They’re saying we should get 18-30". I’m also turning the heat up just in case. DH thinks he’s going to try to snowblow the driveway during the storm so he’s not trying to clear 2+’ at once, but with the expected winds and heavy snow I’m not sure his plan will work.
Snow is coming down here in SW CT – not too heavy yet, but it’s snowing sideways. Not a good sign!
Capital District of NYS.
Very light snow started about an hour ago. Still saying only between 8"-12" but I’m in the gray zone where if the storms tracks just a bit further west we could get a lot more - or if it tracks a wee bit more to the east we’ll get a lot less. The local meteorologists still aren’t sure. I am hoping it tracks more to the east.
I did go to the bank and take out cash in case H has to stay in the EOC and I have to ask one of the neighbor kids to shovel driveway.
South Jersey- atlantic county- rain, no snow on ground at all at this time. Prediction for 10-18 inches.
Shellfell. My husband also plans to clear the driveway multiple times. We have a huge snowblower, and it can handl 12 inches…but I’m not sure it can handle 24.
Plus…there could be drifting. I vote for the wind blowing all the snow off of my driveway and onto the grass!
About 20 miles north of NYC here. Not snowing hard at the moment-maybe 3 inches down, but our very reliable local meteorologist just posted an update on Facebook that he expects areas 40-50 miles west of NYC to “only” get as little as 10 inches of snow and areas on the CT/NY border to get closer to 2 feet. Picked up DH from the train station about 45 minutes ago. Said that the train from NYC was absolutely packed like sardines. I was lucky and didn’t have to go into school today because of Regents week. I don’t proctor exams. I really feel for the kids who have been studying and desperately need to pass in order to graduate. This storm certainly throws everything into chaos with the schedule.
DS#2 is living in the Boston area and said that the large local supermarket was an absolute zoo last night. No milk, bread or chicken in the store. Didn’t ask about the eggs. 
Boston is still supposed to get walloped by this storm. We’ll see if “they” are correct or this was just a lot of hype.
I’m supposed to be in NYC for depositions at the end of the week. Flying in on Wednesday and out on Friday night. (I’m in LA). Looks like things should be okay by then, right?
Should be. How late are you arriving on Wednesday? They do tend to clear the airports pretty quickly.
@nottelling-assume you are flying into JFK, that will probably work.
