Are you raedy for the storm?

Storm totals drastically reduced! Msnbc reporting NYC totals more like 10-14
Philadelphia 3-6 inches. Big changes

I will never ever understand why snow dictates a french toast supply emergency. I live in rural northern Indiana–we get blizzards. Not including really isolated US pockets, wouldn’t it be very rare to not be able to get to a grocery within 3 days? Do most people really have their food supply that low?

I do worry and feel sorry for those who are prone to power outages, and it seems as if the NE/eastern seaboard is much more prone to that than we are. Hoping everyone stays safe and warm.

I am in Boston. The MBTA is having some horribly bad luck (not weather related) and my 30-minute commute took me over two hours - and one of the commuter rail lines was shut down entirely. The snow is coming down and sticking, but it doesn’t look like a blizzard yet… I did stop by the supermarket to try to pick up one thing (I knew I had 15 minutes to kill waiting for my bus anyway) and it was absolutely a zoo. Most of the milk was wiped out too.

I’m patiently waiting for our storm totals in northern CT to come down. So far…they have not.

ETA…just checked again…and we are now also 10-18 inches. That sure beats 12-24!

I have a feeling this thing is going to miss Philly entirely. Kind of disappointed; although I’m not much of a snow fan, I like one good blizzard a year.

This is going to be a bust. The news jacked this up like it is the end of the world. It is total bs and I said this to people at work 9 hours ago when it snowed, stopped and the sun came out. There is no way we get as much as they’re predicting.

Agreed DocT. When I was driving home about 1:00, it was almost sunny out.

We are going to get snow…but not 2 feet…my guess is we won’t get one foot. And I’m also guessing this is all going to end far sooner than predicted.

Totally over hyped. I am stuck in Philadelphia where apparently ALL flights were cancelled and there is not a snowflake in sight. Not a one.

NYC must be out of the woods…Jim Cantore moved to Boston!

I agree that this is going to be a bust. I felt that way from the beginning. But how many times can the boy cry wolf before they won’t believe him?

Well…they do say that if Jim Cantore is in town…it’s not a good sign!

SE Mass here - it’s coming down pretty hard here now. Depending on which news channel I see we’re either in the 18-24, 24 plus or 30-36 range! We’ve been the “jackpot” town before which isn’t fun! Luckily we’ re not on the coast so there’s not the tidal concerns some towns have. But we’ve got food and wine enough to last and moved enough wood into the garage to fuel the wood stove insert in the fireplace and the dog is soaking up the heat! DD’s classes in Providence have been cancelled as have DS’11’s out in Western Mass. Hoping the electric stays on though as I’m hoping to get lots done tomorrow!

the storm is missing DC!!! so sad. We are getting a little bit of snow (couple inches).

Argh ! The hype…just looked at the accuweather app on my phone and I see the snow approaching our coast…they really create a frenzy and I fall into the trap.
Sometimes, I wonder if all the so called improved technology is really all that it is cracked up to be…it doesn’t seem to be that more reliable that what we had in 1978…but roads shot down and so does all commerce, sometimes for no reason

Downstate NY is closing the roads in 13 counties at 11pm. People who are on the roads can get a ticket (fines as high as $300). It’s starting to get windy, so something’s coming.

Dont like Jim Cantore because of some scummy things he did in his personal life.

Roads here were asked to be cleared at 9. I imagine its snowing in the eastern part of the state, but right now, it is not snowing in the NW corner of CT. The weather guys claim there are bands of snow to come.

I guess we will see in the morning!

Let me guess–S&S?

I’m in south central PA, too. Who is the forecaster?

Not seeing heavy snow near New Haven so far. I’m hoping the wind will keep a lot of snow off the roof – and that the power stays on. I can take the snow if we don’t lose power!

This is almost funny - CNN is straining to maintain this end-of-the-world seriousness but the NYC streets they keep showing are mostly wet, with very little snow coming down. Almost feel sorry for the reporters.

Today is the anniversary of the Chicago Blizzard of '67. We had another bad one in '79, and last year we had 87 inches over the course of the season. I hope everyone stays safe.
