Are You Ready For Some Football!!!!

He probably will go pro, but the #1 qb? Ehh…

From what I’ve read, it’s supposed to be a qb-rich draft, and Manziel is small with only average arm strength, and he’s had off-field issues.

I don’t really follow college ball though, so what do I know.

Ok, I found this, FWIW:

[NFL Draft - 2014 NFL Draft Prospects - CBSSports.com - NFLDraftScout.com](http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/prospectrankings/2014/QB)

which has Manziel rated as the 5th best qb that will be in the draft.

To me, Manziel is the opposite side of the Tebow coin. There were people who liked Tebow regardless of his skill as a player. On the other side of that coin, I don’t like Manziel regardless of his skill as a player. He’s an annoying little twit.

If Manziel is 6’1" as listed, that’s not small. He would in any case be as large as Drew Brees - or Russell Wilson. I’ve seen him throw deep balls. I’d be concerned about fitting him into a system but his playmaking is a combination of scrambling and throwing, not hard running. I could see him being successful. BTW, I’ve only seen bits of him playing. I don’t pay attention to college football.

The Giants 0-6 and Pittsburgh 0-4. Who’da thunk?

Lergnom, I may have misread it, but I think the link from CBS Sports in notrichenough’s post listed Manziel’s height as 5’ 11", not 6’ 1".

Jerry Kill taking a step back for now. I hope it works out for him:

[Gophers announce Jerry Kill to take time off to manage epilepsy | Gridiron Gold | StarTribune.com](http://www.startribune.com/sports/blogs/227275021.html)
How much is at stake for Texas coach Mack Brown this weekend vs. Oklahoma?

I won’t say the Longhorns have to beat the Sooners, can it be 55-17 or 63-21 like the past two seasons? Nike will have them both in ugly uniforms.

The Oregon-UW game is interesting to me on several levels.
For one, do you think like me the spread seems a bit high?
If: The Huskies nearly beat Stanford on the road last week. This week they’re at home against a Duck team that hasn’t been challenged yet. Oregon will try to tie the NCAA record for most consecutive 50+ point games and Mariota has yet to play in the fourth quarter this year. So to me the question is, if the game is close, do the Ducks have the stamina at this point to play a full game in a hostile environment?
The answer is probably yes, but then again…
There are probably not a lot of people on the East Coast who have the chance to watch the Ducks outside of highlights since Oregon plays so many night games. Cal was at night, WAZZU next week is at night and Stanford next month is at night. The UW game is a day game, so they can make a big impression if they light up the Huskies. That would make them look good and help Mariota’s Heisman pursuit.
On the other hand, a blowout for the Ducks wouldn’t be the best thing for the Pac-12. Larry Scott talked during the UO/Cal game about the conference being stronger top to bottom this year. In recent years it’s pretty much been Stanford and Oregon, then the rest of the conference pretty far below (with some exceptions, such as UW’s win over Stanford last year). Do you believe if the Ducks score a lopsided win it will help reenforce the image of the Pac-12 being a two-team conference?

^ He is probably right in the middle … at exactly 72 inches.

As for his size, Manziel weighs 210 pounds. He has XXL hands and wears size 15 shoes. He is only 20 years old, so there is hope he grows.

Gil Brandt, the Cowboys former player personnel director who still is considered a draft expert, expects Manziel to go sometime after the first round. But Brandt said Manziel’s game against Oklahoma in the Cotton Bowl was “as good a game as anybody I’ve ever seen play.”

That would be silly. In addition to the strong play of Washington, there is also UCLA in the mix.

[UCLA Football - Bruins News, Scores, Videos - College Football - ESPN](UCLA Bruins Scores, Stats and Highlights - ESPN)

And then you have the dysfunctional USC that started last season ranked one and always find a way to alternate the best with the worst. Without their clueless coach, USC can surprise anyone.

Finishing unbeaten in the PAC-12 is just as hard as in any other conferences, if not the hardest of all.

I can see someone “reaching” on Manziel at the end/mid of the first round (Maybe the Browns?) but are a lot of talented guys that will be out there in the 2-5th rounds this year.

I’ve stood next to some NFL QB’s. I’m not tall. A few were really large but some were barely taller than me, just listed as taller. I’ve also stood next to a number of NBA players. Some are really freaking tall and some are listed as taller than they are.

Tallest people? My brother once spent an hour sitting with Manute Bol (when he was playing in Bridgeport, CT, I think) but mine is a breakfast in Chicago where I sat at a table next to the Utah Jazz. 3 guys 7 feet tall including Mark Eaton at 7’4" and all legs. Sitting when he stood, I felt like his knees were in my face.

Manziel plays against old miss tonight on espn. He is fun to watch. I hope he plays well. The team roster shows him at 6-1 and 210lbs. He does look a little smaller than that but the other guys are a lot bigger in comparison.

Hook em!!! \m/

Good bye UGA

My Spartans have finally started getting their offense together. I’m so glad that Cook has replaced Maxwell (heck, I would’ve taken Zeke the Wonder Dog over Maxwell most days).

I just want to see someone beat OSU. I don’t really care who at this point.

Dodged a bullet. For some reason a friend & I decided to go to the outdoor mall that is right next to Husky Stadium.
Sez I " do you know if there is a game today?"
Apparently there was, the helicopters should have been a giveaway.
We managed to finish up with 7min left on the clock and avoid the traffic.

Poor showing by Michigan’s kicker, gutsy 4th down call by Bill O’Brien to bring PSU the win.

Poor showing, but it shouldn’t have been on him either. Very poor play calling by Michigan.

I am stunned that Stanford was stunned. Wow.

Didn’t see the game, and though I am a fervent Mich alumni, and despise Penn St, I think it’s sort of karma that apparently UM could have won if the kicker, whose rapist allegations I just found out about today, had made his kicks.

I was sorry to hear the story, felt bad about rooting for my team in these circumstances, but feel better if he had a bad day.

^ I actually hadn’t heard about that. Wow…

That is sick!
