Are You Ready For Some Football!!!!

Well, I’ve seen other threads where you talk about Harvard in the same vein that you talk about Stanford here. It was not clear to me whether your knowledge was first-hand or whether you just happened to know people in admissions. It’s a small world out there., Either way, you are under no responsibility to reveal where you went to school.

Since the scholastic acumen of the Stanford football team was brought up, I did a quick google search. The SAT average in 1997, post-recentering, was 1108 out of 1600, which was at the time #1 for Division I football teams. I don’t know if it has changed, but I had heard that Jim Harbaugh demanded that they lower the academic standards. 1000 is the average score nationwide (the scores were “recentered” to 1000), so while Stanford football players are above average in the classroom and are smarter than other Div. I football players, they are generally nowhere on par with the other people who go to Stanford.

Saints just set a new NFL record of 40 first downs! Nice to see that Mark Ingram has his mojo back.

Dolphins are visiting us tonight at Ray Jay stadium in Tampa. Not sure whether to get excited or to start crying.

Did anyone see the interviews over the past few days of Tony Dorsett talking about suffering the symptoms of CTE? Very sad and it makes watching the brutal hits very difficult.

Yeah, I heard about this. It makes me wonder whether the old-timers had the same problem, or maybe the fact they were smaller then meant the collisions weren’t as harmful.

Or, it was a matter of no one ever keeping track of post-career issues.

Well, I’ll be damned. Dolphins lost to the Buccs…

The Bucs were tough. West coast beat East coast!

Is that even a thing in Florida? They are only a hundred miles apart.

No, it isn’t a thing.

What matters is a team who hasn’t won a single game this season beat them. Dolphins get your stuff together. Fast.

They clearly missed Richie Incognito’s leadership.

They clearly did.

starts a “Bring Incognito Back” movement

They clearly missed half of their offensive line, particularly at the end of the game when Tannehill had about 0.3 seconds (maybe a slight exaggeration… not much) before getting crushed.

The Fins seemed lethargic for much of the game. Incognito hangover, maybe?

LOL… just saw a video from last night’s game. The announcer, Mike Tirico, blames a penalty perpetrated by Dolphins center, Pouncey, on Incognito!

It’s hard to figure whether Pouncy or Incognito is a bigger meathead. Pouncy was the idiot who wore a Free Hernandez cap after Aaron Hernandez was arrested on murder charges. Definitely not the sharpest knife in the block.

When the Dolphins played the Patriots in Boston last month, state troopers served Pouncy with a grand jury subpoena when he was walking from the stadium to the team bus. Gun trafficking investigation in connection with Hernandez.

I guess the administrators had no choice but to cancel the game. It is unfortunate that just a few idiots can destroy the fun of so many other people.

Alabama, Florida State and Ohio State still the stop three.

I have to admit I did not know University of Central Florida existed until they had a football team. Football = school marketing.

And Stanford is # 4!
Today’s Stanford- USC game will be a good one!

razor, woah … truly a Beating up on the opponent’s QB story.

UCF is a space grant U! Temple is giving them a game!

From whenever we were talking about academic standards – two researchers looked at Cal’s admissions and found that athletes are getting in with a C average in high school and test scores averaging 1,110 (that’s 370 in each section).
Given this:
[Cal’s shockingly low athletic admission standards - SFGate](<a href=“Cal's shockingly low athletic admission standards”>Cal's shockingly low athletic admission standards)
Cal should be kicking serious butt in football and men’s basketball.

Today’s best games maybe Auburn vs Georgia, Okie State vs Longhorns, and Trojans vs Stanford.

UCF tied the game, forced a 3-and-out, completed a 64-yard pass & kicked a 23-yard field goal for the 39-36 win over Temple, all in the last 90 seconds!
