There were 2 different kickers.

Not the guy who missed the 57 yarder–that one was on Saban’s bad decision. The other guy.

The game was good, enjoyable, and had an interesting finish, but the greatest game ever played takes the term hyperbole to a new height. I can think of a number of games where both teams played well and MUCH better than today. The defensive backs would have been replaced at most HS games in Texas. That 99 yards was a joke, and numerous other plays.

How could this game compare to Texas win over USC in the championship game, and plenty of others.

By the way, the incredibly poor officiating at Stanford vs Notre Dame continues. After last year’s highway robbery, those zebras from a different conference are back at influencing the game with utterly BS targeting/personal fouls. Getting old!

I didn’t say the best-played game. I said the greatest game. I’ve never seen a game of this magnitude that had so much of everything–good, bad and indifferent–and ended in such a dramatic fashion.

The 2-point needed to happen. They would not have won in OT.

I predict the idiot that flipped the bird to fans gets another game (as he should), the other will be back in.

I’m so sad I didn’t see the Bama game.

As long as the BCS championship isn’t Bama/OSU, I don’t care who is in it.

I’m with Xiggi on the 2006 Texas/USC Rose Bowl being a much better game. Vince Young gave a performance for the ages that day, and scored the winning TD in the last few seconds. It’s too bad he couldn’t be as successful in the NFL; he was so exciting to watch in college.

Still, I was slack-jawed by today’s ending - that was crazy! Like EMM1 said, I would not want to be in Cade Foster’s shoes tonight. My heart goes out to him, but he really let his team down, and apparently had a similar performance against LSU a couple of seasons back.

Frankly I’m shocked Alabama doesn’t have a good kicker in the line up. What, does he think he doesn’t need one? I saw the after game interview with Sabin, and I thought he was classless in appearing to blame the kicker(s). I was pretty disappointed he did that. The loss is at least partly attributable to play-calling decisions.

Many teams are lacking good kickers. And they seem to battle many injuries during the season.

AUB runs a crazy running game most time defence dont know who the hell has the ball. Alabama defence was not ready for that type of running game.

Fileld goals WINs the game you miss them or dont take them then thats what happened to closely fight game. Foster was awful never seen anything like this before. Saban took the chance to kick the 57 yds but never put fast guys to stop the kick return and he payed for it with the biggest lost.

Alabama has many chances to put this game away but let it slip. They should have used Drake more then Yeldon. This one will be hard to sollow. I have seen many iron bowl defeats by Alabama in mid 80s but this one hurts the most and cost them shot to the NCAA championship game. Now FSU will see OSU in championship game. FSU will win big time.

Unbelievable! Adds to the Malzahn legend.

Saban surely knew the field goal attempt was maybe 50/50 chance of making and the worst thing that could happen was miss and have to go overtime…he surely didn’t figure on the 109 yard return for TD by Auburn part!

A UCLA lineman was ejected too. He took a pretty cheap shot against the USC guy.

I love that 2006 Rose Bowl game.

Saban is one of the smartest coach in college football. I hope he knew that there is a chance that Ball might end in the hand of the Auburn kick returner who was placed their just to do what he did. 57 yds was a long field attempt and might not carry all the way in the crowd.

I thought Auburn Georgia game was the craziest or todays Michigan OSU game was crazy but this one goes in the book as the most craziest game ever played in Football including NFL.

There’s going to be some hangovers in Alabama Sunday morning.

<a href=“Kick Six: Chris Davis Return for TD - YouTube”>Kick Six: Chris Davis Return for TD - YouTube;

Their is College Football and then their is Iron Bowl. Alabama can loose every game but if they win Iron Bowl then all is good in Tuscaloosa. Alabama QB should have known this better then anyone else thats its just not another game its Iron Bowl. They took it easily and they pay for it. You cant win every game in last 4 min. I wish OSU had lost too to give Alabama an outside chance to fight with FSU but looks like its no more possible.

Saban saying some players didn’t play the way they should have played and I agree but Saban also made few bad play calls like not kicking the 31 yds goal but went for 4th down and 1yd and fail with Yeldon. Should have kick it even knowing his kicker was having a awful game that would make a 2 possession game.

Then going for a 57 yd instead of taking it to overtime knowing his kickers are no good.

Just some very bad play calls from Coaching Staffs.

Looks to me Fosters had played his last game he did the same against LSU couple of yrs ago if my memory is correct.

If Saban did not have confidence in his kicker, he should have protected against the catch & run from Auburn. It’s not like no one saw that Auburn guy down by the goal posts. He wasn’t hiding or anything.

He can’t have it both ways. Either he had confidence in his kicker and should have gone for the 33 yd PAT earlier instead of missing the conversion; or he didn’t have have confidence in his kicker doing a 57 yd kick and should have protected against the Auburn run. But he’s making both arguments, and it’s petty. Man up, Saban. Play-calling contributed to this loss, period.

As for Ziggi’s comment that many teams don’t have good kickers - really? Alabama has the best recruiting year after year. They’ve been ranked in the top 5 for the last bunch of years, and they can’t recruit a kicker? Not buying it. I think it’s just priorities of how he fills his roster.

This is what college football is all about:
