Anyone else watching the OSU/Michigan game? It’s heated…

Romani, I am. So far it’s been a good game. I was a little embarrassed by that failure to tackle the OSU QB though. Our defenders basically tackled each other and the QB waltzed into the end zone. That was almost Wiley Coyote level.

Buckeyes can count on divine help … and poor decisions by Michigan. Too bad!

So what happens to the ejected players in the OSU/Michigan game? Is it like soccer, where they have to miss the next game? Will Marcus Hall face any further sanctions for flipping off the Michigan fans as he left the field?

For fighting, the team gets a 15 yard penalty. If fighting was in the first half, then the player does not play the second half of the game. If in the second half, then the player does not play the first half of the next game. If there is a flagrant personal foul the conference can impost additional sanctions.

If the player has engaged in a second offense of fighting the penalties can get much tougher.

Okay, the end of that game just officially broke my heart.

I don’t really know what will happen to Marcus Hall. He flipped off the crowd but he was already ejected from the game. His behavior was unsportsmanlike conduct, but does it matter if it is after he is ejected?

Chasing the two points conversions rarely works well. Did not work for OSU against Oregon. Too bad for that QB of Michigan. He did show heart and courage with his bad leg.

How about Duke! They are reducing the distance between them and Stanford from a few miles to perhaps one. ;)

^They probably went for 2 points because Michigan felt they couldn’t stop Ohio State’s rushing game and because Michigan’s regular kicker was injured.
I get the logic, but all the pressure would be on Ohio St. in overtime since they’re the one with the undefeated record.

Don’t worry. Urban will be sure to suspend him for a game next season against Southeast Michigan Tech.

Yeah, that was brutal.

Duke has gone from being the butt of the ACC to contending for the conference title. That’s pretty amazing.

In the NFL, the 2-point conversion rate is almost exactly 50%. If it is similar in college, it means Michigan had a 50-50 chance to win outright. If you don’t like your chances in overtime, it can be a smart play.

If you don’t make it though you set yourself up for massive criticism, which is why you almost never see it done. Coaches as a rule are a cowardly bunch.

DW and I were watching the Pats-Broncos game in a bar, and left at half-time in disgust. What a comeback! I saw a stat that said that teams losing by 24 points at the half were 5-617.

And how ironic that Welker played a key role in losing the game for the Broncos.

Are you kidding me? A 108 yard field goal return for the win with no time left??

Good thing the ref put 1 second back on the clock!

What makes college football this fun. A great and bizarre game. Great efforts but DBs offering early Xmas presents.

The next weeks debates about BCS will be interesting. Are one-loss team still in? Or are SEC losses not relevant?

The Alabama loss means a Florida prosecutor becomes the most important person in college football because he will decide whether to prosecute the Florida State quarterback for rape.

If Fla. St and tOSU both win their championship games I have to imagine they play. I can not see a 1 loss team being chosen over Ohio State having a 25 game winning streak. Even though the SEC is superior to the BIG 10 Ohio State is a historic program.

Perhaps the quarterback only had one play left on that ankle. The play called was not the greatest either. But it is easy from the couch. ;)

Really bummed Georgia Tech lost to Georgia in OT.
But happy it got over in time to see Auburn beat Alabama. Definitely 2 games worth watching.

No kidding. We are all watching that last play in shock. I love a good upset!

Maybe the greatest college football game ever played. I’m pretty old and have seen a lot of games (for example, I remember the 1971 game between No. 1 Oklahoma and No. 2 Nebraska where Jimmy Rodgers ripped OKU apart en route to a 35-31 win) but I have never, ever, EVER seen anything like this year’s Iron Bowl. I may be a Yankee born and bred, but what the heck–W–A-A-R EAGLE!

I feel really bad for the Alabama kicker, though. Not only does he have to live with one of the great choke performances of all time, but he has to go to class on Monday at Bama. Bring your helmet.
