Are You Ready For Some Football!!!!

MOWC - I can understand how you feel. I’m a Penn Stater so of course I hope he is successful, but it makes me uneasy when I see what happened at Vanderbilt.

All I could think of Saturday was that old song “Fifty Ways to leave your Lover”- Slip out the back, Jack. Make a new plan, Stan. No need to be coy, Roy…

^^^^LOL, I just bought that off i-tunes this weekend. :D

Does Vandy have a scatter band? If so, perhaps y’all need to schedule Penn State.

[MOB makes national headlines in wake of Tulsa outrage | The Rice Thresher](http://the.ricethresher.org/news/2007/11/30/mob_outrage_tulsa)

I love the Rice MOB! That’s great. No- the Vandy band is more traditional. The players are chomping for a game v. Penn State, though.

I have no opinion on the former Vandy coach, but I do like the way the new UT coach insisted upon meeting with the Louisville AD before he left for the UT job. I think that was classy. He said he really wanted to give the news face to face to the man who gave him his first head coaching job. That definitely scored points with me.

If enough Vandy recruits head to PSU then the Nitts will have to revoke offers to their commitments.

Derrick Coleman is amazing. Check out this story and watch the video ad at the bottom if you want to be impressed.

^^^^^
I was just going to post that.
Very inspirational.
Instead Ill just mention Macklemores new jacket.
Im assuming he has one for baseball season as well.

This is my favorite story of the day …

JJT is the biggest idiot among a bunch of moron writers in Dallas.

Here are a few numbers

[The 10 Worst NFL Franchises Over The Past 10 Years](http://www.footballnation.com/content/the-10-worst-nfl-franchises-over-the-past-10-years/20205/)

I’m not sure what your point is, xiggi. Just because the Cowboys have underachieved for almost two decades doesn’t mean that there aren’t worse teams out there. Besides, even teams on this year-old list are turning it around whereas the Cowboys aren’t. 49ers fans are sitting pretty right now.

An update to the Lane Kiffin Song from a few years ago

[Lane Kiffin Song 2014 - YouTube](<a href=“Lane Kiffin Song 2014 - YouTube”>Lane Kiffin Song 2014 - YouTube)

The Cowboys 2014 marketing campaign. “There are teams that stink more than we do”. Bahahahahahahaha.

My point, YDS, was and is that JJT is one of the biggest idiots around. He is in the category of Skip Bayless or Gosselin. All they do is criticize without much affinity for objective journalism.

There are teams in the NFL that have never (or close to never) had any relevance. Even current darlings (think the Saints and Seattle) have had decades of painfully abject results. How long did it take for those franchises to win a playoff game?

For most of my life, the Cowboys have been disappointing and cruel. I have heard and see videos of the great games of Aikman, Smith, et al. I might even remember seeing some games. The grease ball trick in Seattle still hurts, and so does that ball that flew through the arms of that lazy receiver against the Giants.

The biggest mistake of the Boys in the past years has been to refuse to throw a couple of seasons and pike up the dreaft choices. Teams that alternate the very good and the darn awful end up faring better than the ones that alternate .500 seasons with a couple of better ones. The Cowboys think they will win it all every season, and sometimes get close, and others far below. They are, however, not in the company of Detroit or Cleveland. They “could” compete every year, and many times, a couple of inches here and there might have earned them much better results.

All in all, I think it is asinine to pile on Jerry Jones’ perceived ineptitude. I think that people love to forget that he bought a team that has lost all spirit. Was the sick Richardson or the “likeable” Bum Bright better owners? Where the GM better in the first year of Troy Aikman?

The results have been disappointing, but plenty of franchises have done worse. San Francisco and Seattle are looking pretty … now. Should we look at how the Niners did prior to hiring Harbaugh? In the meantime, the Cowboys are still the franchise that brings envy to most. They play in one of the most beautiful venues. It could be a lot worse: they might still play in that desolate Texas stadium, or even worse, at the Cotton Bowl.

Perhaps Jerry should have hired luminaries such as Matt Millen, and shelter himself from the jocks and straps’ business. And that would not have avoided the countless injuries of this year!

Well, I DO remember the greatness, going back to the Staubach days. My mother and I cried when he retired. I give less than a damn about the fancy new stadium with his wife’s hand-selected art collection and the Victoria’s Secret outlet and go-go girls. For JJ, the franchise is the goose that lays the golden egg; wins and losses are secondary to making money. I’d rather they return to Irving Stadium if it means they win more games and live up to the franchise’s potential – its football potential, not just its fiscal potential.

Also, that column was labeled “commentary.” It’s not supposed to be objective.

Jerry Jones has said that he would have fired himself as GM.

Even he realizes he’s done a crappy job.

New England is on a 15 year run. The 49ers had about a 20 year run in the 80’s and 90’s.

Feast or famine isn’t the only way.

High draft picks are only relevant to land a franchise QB and even then it better be in the right season. The salary cap creates parity and requires successful teams to have a good coach and GM ( and as mentioned previously a franchise QB). I think most objective people would say that Romo is a good enough to win a championship with. That leaves the blame on Jones and the parade of puppet coaches he has hired since Jimmy Johnson left.

Drafting well*, trading well+, and hiring the right free agents (not just at quarterback) within the constraints of the salary cap is a major part of building a strong team. A franchise quarterback may not be too effective if the receivers cannot get open or drop passes a lot, or if the offensive line allows a lot of sacks. And even if the franchise quarterback can lead the offense to 35+ points per game, that can still lose if the defense allows 40+ points per game.

Consider the quarterbacks picked #35 and #36 in the 2011 draft.

Consider the 2012 St. Louis / Washington trade.

Meanwhile in Washington . . . .
