Uh oh, another investigation? Negotiategate anyone?
And in other breaking news, the Texans are NOT signing Tim Tebow. (Nor is anyone else.)

Those rules are stupid. The whole point of the three-day period is to stop the tampering shenanigans where a free agent signs at 12:01AM after free agency starts.
The fact is that the announced deals are not official, and other teams still have the chance to come in with a better offer, or their current team has time to decide to match an offer or whatever.
Apparently under the rules, you’re allowed to “negotiate”, but not to “make offers” or “reach agreements”. And according to this follow-up report, the Dolphins are “nervous” about the investigation of their deal with Suh. Or maybe they’re just looking for an excuse to back out of a bad deal. I have to say that I agree with Florio’s take on this:

There’s no deal yet until 4PM today. So either side could walk away at any point. Another team could jump in with a better deal. None will, of course, because giving elite QB money to a DT is crazy.
Wow, Jimmy Graham to the Seahawks! I guess now they have someone who can make the play on the slant route from the one yard line. Meanwhile, Pats lose Vereen to the Giants and latest reports suggest Revis is going back to the Jets. Just have to keep repeating, “In Bill We Trust”.
I don’t know how I feel about that move. The only thing that make losing Max Unger an OK thing is that he’s been injured so much so wasn’t on the field as much as we would have wanted. It will be interesting to see how the locker room welcomes “Jimmy”. I’m wondering how he’ll fit.
@saintfan, I think you’re just too used to rooting against Jimmy. This is a great pickup for the Seahawks - he’s the perfect target for Russell Wilson. Unger’s good but replaceable (as the Seahawks proved this year). This is an instant upgrade for the Seahawks’ offense, exactly what they needed. I’d say they’re the odds on favorite to make it back to the SB for the 3rd straight year. I’m just hoping the Pats can make it back as well after they lose Revis, Wilfork, Vereen and my guess is probably Browner too.
Happy about the Packers’ very good front office keeping Randall Cobb (and he turned down more money to stay with the Pack!) and Bulaga. Sad about AJ Hawk but I wasn’t surprised.
Well, we’ve lost Byron Maxwell and Malcolm Smith as well. I am not sad at all about losing Carpenter (LG) to the Jets. I was not a big fan. Now we need to draft a new O line.
Graham is a great pick for Seattle. More throws on 2nd and goal from the 1 for Wilson.
I’m not nearly the Jimmy Graham fan as many. I don’t like him as a blocker and think he flourished in a pass first/Drew Brees-run offense. Unless Seattle starts throwing the ball a lot more, I don’t see that much gain in the passing game. And to be frank, we’ve only seen Wilson as the passer/scrambler second offensive option not as the guy running a passing game.
BTW, I’d bet now that neither the Pats nor Seahawks makes it to the Super Bowl next year. It’s tough to do and, as we saw with both this year, it takes a lot of luck and a couple of plays that could have gone the other way. Remember how Seattle beat Green Bay on a combination of fluke plays. And the Pats beat the Ravens instead of the other way round because of a single interception in the end zone at the end. While all teams get banged up, as each year goes by, it’s less likely a team can remain relatively injury clean or, like Baltimore when they won, get their key players back from injury just as the playoffs are about to start. It’s more likely you lose that key component.
I gotta wonder what planet Chip Kelly is on…trading Foles for Bradford? And having it look like Sanchez is their starting QB? That has to be one of the biggest shake my head moment in history. Yeah, Sanchez had a lot of yards throwing, but he also had a lot of turnovers and ended up taking Philly out of the playoffs. One of the better lines had to be that Chip Kelly likes quarterbacks tutored by Brian Schottenheimer, because they are so cheap lol.
It will be interesting to see who can remake themselves into a better or even team as they lose to free agency. I’m worried about the Rams getting a good QB and lighting up our division. So will Hoyer go to Houston or Jets?
Revis just signed with the Jets, amazing…don’t know the numbers, but wow…this whole thing with free agency is bizarre reminds me of feeding frenzy at the shark tank…
weird
Oh wait! I didn’t realize that the Rams have Foles! Merry Christmas to us! He is an interception machine when under pressure. He was at Arizona and still is. Love it!
Revis to the Jets is pretty much as expected. It’s also about as blatant a case of tampering as you’re ever going to get, but I’m not expecting the league to do anything about it. Grateful to him for a good year with the Pats - guess he figures he has his ring now, so it’s fine to take the money to go back to a losing team. At least it frees up some salary cap for the Pats to play with.
Jets gave him a 5-year, $70 million contract, with $39 million fully guaranteed. Pats weren’t going to match that, nor should they have. Congrats to Revis, but can’t wish him good luck with the Jets.
So will the Jets draft a QB?
I don’t think the Patriots are a better team today then they were a week ago, so I am bummed. They definitely did not win FA this year. Championships aren’t won in March, so In Bill We Trust, I guess.
I wonder if Revis factored in how much more playing time he’s going to get for the Jets now that Geno is his qb into his contract demands.
