Are you ready for some football?

In a nutshell . . . if you’re going to play the “I’m an elite quarterback” thing and go around in the offseason celebrity dating and wearing sockless loafers with shawl collar sweaters, you’d better be able and willing to get under center and put your everloving head down and sneak for 5 inches on 4th down. Otherwise shut the H-E-doubletoothpicks up about preparation and God’s plan and everything else. O may not like Brady but by God he can hit the slant and sneak under the line when he needs to. As much as I hate to say it that allows you to wear all the Ugg boots you want on your day off and nobody can touch you.

Looking for the tampa tennessee game. Is this on a network? I’ve seen references to CBS, but that’s Denver Baltimore here.

Same here - I had wanted to watch it. I did see in a highlight that Winston already threw a pick 6 though, so it’s off to a good start! We are getting Ravens / Broncos on CBS which I have no interest in

I would think Wilson ran the play that was called… Do you think he should have audibled to a sneak?

Bucs-Titans has been getting a lot of play on Redzone, but a game with two 2-14 teams will not get a lot of national play.

Ha! 28-7 Titans in 2nd quarter.

Well, this Denver-Baltimore game is a snoozer. I have a fantasy player on each team and was really looking forward to it. :frowning:

Mariota has looked pretty good. Winston looks a little less polished but he has made some nice plays as well.

half time . . .

Mariota 10/13 175 yrds 4 TDs and 0 INT

Winston 6/12 70 yrds 1 TD and 2 INTs

I guess that answers the question of who is “pro ready” on day 1

Weird stat: 1st play in the redzone by either Denver or Baltimore with 4 minutes left in the game. That play lost yards taking Denver just outside the redzone. So 1 play from scrimmage in the redzone by either team and it’s now 2:55 left. Peyton looks a lot older with not much zip on the ball, but he might look different against a normal NFL (i.e., sucky) defense with normal (i.e., sucky) coaching.

Update: 1st snap inside redzone for Baltimore is at 1 minute left. That was 1st down, so they’ll run a few more. I was hoping for just the 1 because that would be a neat trivia question.

Suggs is out for the year with a torn Achilles.

I can’t stand him, but he’s a great player and I hate to see him go out like this.

MARCUS MARCUS MARCUS!!

Eugene is ecstatic. imo he looked NFL ready, even though it was the lowly Bucs. But still. Perfect QB rating.

Winston looked ‘a little less polished’? Ha.

  1. Mariota joined Hall of Famer Fran Tarkenton as the only players to throw four or more touchdown passes in their first NFL game. Tarkenton did it for Minnesota against Chicago on Sept. 17, 1961.

2)He is the first player in league history to throw two touchdown passes in the first quarter of his NFL debut.

3)Winston, the No. 1 overall draft pick in this year’s draft, became the first quarterback since Brett Favre in 1991 to have his first NFL pass intercepted and returned for a touchdown…

LOL. I am so happy Mariota did well. I do not like Winston and all the crap he got away with in college football. BTW Wintson is no Brett Favre.

Wow. The interception in the last 8 minutes put the Giants over the Cowboys. 22-13 now.

Oops! Interception is reversed. Back to 16-13 Giants.

And Giants made touchdown. 23-13.

Favre wasn’t Favre until his 2nd year, and didn’t really hit his stride until his 4th year.

I think it is a little too early to either coronate Mariota or dump on Winston. It’s one game…

Still an Interception, just not a TD. I didn’t think it was an INT. I thought the guy had it and then lost it.

Why wouldn’t it be an int? The ball never touched the ground.

I am grateful for one thing, this kid on the jets, Mauldin, got piled on in the scramble for a fumble. After the play the kid got up, and then he collapsed face first. They took him off strapped unto a back board, he apparently was unconscious, it was pretty scary. The good news is they are saying now it was just a bad concussion, no neck or spinal injuries, I was scared the poor kid was paralyzed.I also was happy the Jets defense made Manziel look foolish, though he is no Tebow, there are still too many people cheerleading for him.

Mariota looked decent, but to be honest Tampa Bay’s D is horrible, how Lovey Smith even got that job I’ll never know, so it is hard to tell how well he will do when they face the teams with real defenses.

Giants lost 26-27. Romo made TD with 7 seconds left. Good game.
