Andddd Lions announced that Jim Caldwell will be back again before we even see how we do in the playoffs. :-<
@romanigypsyeyes, OT I know, but it’s so weird seeing a kitten as your avatar. I thought you were a dog only kind of girl? Did I have it all wrong?
I’m hoping Dallas plays NY in the playoffs. If they can’t figure out how to beat that team, they don’t deserve to be champs. JMO.
@Nrdsb4 I love both. I love pretty much all animals who have 4 legs (more than that creeps me out). I put it up for a reason but it’ll probably be changed shortly.
@Nrdsb4 Because I’m bitter about being in a bad flare right now
There’s a meme going around about how msu is clearly the best big 10 team because we didn’t lose a bowl game unlike the rest of the big 10. I thought it was funny
@hayden:
If you have verizon, NFL Mobile app will allow you to watch the jets,it is part of Verizon service. I think the NFL itself has a service, but I think that only allows watching it the next day (gamepass). Websites like deadspin often have links to (illegal) streams of network broadcasts, that you could watch as well, I have done that when I am out of town and want to get sick watching the jets.
One of the funny things was the DC wasn’t fired, I guess Bowles couldn’t do that without appearing like a total skunk, since he does the defensive play calling during the season. Personally, I think team ownership should forbid head coaches from calling either the defensive or offensive plays, I think it leads to the myopia that tanked Rex Ryan (not caring about the offense) and Bowles, Jerry Jones made Jason Garret have a real OC calling the plays and Dallas is a lot better for it IMO. People talk about Belichick being a defensive genius, but during the game Patricia and McDaniels call the defense and offense, Belichick goes over the game plan with them during the week, but they handle it. I think allowing a head coach to call the plays is what leads to things like poor clock management, and I also think it hurts the offense (my personal take is Andy Reid not being able to win big games, like Marty Schottenheimer, was because because both of them obsessed about the offensive play callings and missed the big picture).
Getting back to the Jets, one of the things that bothers me about Bowles is he seems to have no sense of accountability, I think he only fired the coaches he did (and Gailey was fired, make no mistake about it) because he was forced to. The Jets suffered from a total lack of good coaching, from one end of the field to the other, and basically he is bringing back a lot of coaches who did not perform (about the only special teams the Jets could count on were the punter and placekicker). The other thing I haven’t seen is Mac overhauling the scouting department, given how mostly dismal the draft picks were the last couple of years (Hackenberg in round 2 is now becoming a league joke), where the only one who really has panned out is Leonard Williams (the last two #1’s, pryor and lee, are disappointments so far, pryor may be traded), at the very least they need better scouts.
Hey— Wisconsin won a major bowl!!
And Minnesota and NW won little bowls. I’m schadenfreude-y about UM, PSU and OSU. Heehee.
Being a Lions fan is hard… but we’re used to the pain. It is expected.
Hugs, romani - ouch poor Lions.
So far all the playoff games have been, to say the least, disappointing, basically blowouts (if seattle hadn’t treated wilson like he was connor cook, they would have had a huge blowout IMO). The Pittsburgh-Miami game is a certified disaster for Miami, another blowout. Hopefully the Giants game will be competitive, if it is a blowout this will be a pretty dismal weekend of football.
WHAT A GAME PACKERS!!! Aaron Rodgers was on fire!
Darn those injuries! We always ask for at least one playoff win - what a game for the home crowd.
The Giants were inept.
The game should have been closer, the Giants played pretty tough for the first half of the game but they just made too many mistakes. How many passes did the Giants drop? How many questionable decisions, like having Perkins run on a crucial third down and not making it, and eventually the Giants D got worn down and Rogers torched them. To be honest, if the Giants won this I think they likely would lose later, Green Bay’s defense isn’t that great but the O line let Eli get banged around a lot. Not a Giants fan, but if Jerry Reese doesn’t get his head out of his butt after all these years of having sub standard offensive lines ( an O line with Flowers at left tackle and Justin Pugh as its best player is pretty dismal), and fix it in the offseason, the Giants despite a great D won’t win, can’t, at a high level.
Jordy! ![]()
Jordy Nelson getting hurt was a cheap shot, quite honestly the guy who did that should have gotten a game misconduct and been heaved from the game, he speared Nelson in the ribs with the top of his helmet (he likely will get a major fine for doing that), it was uncalled for and IMO deliberate, he could have just as easily used his shoulders.
And an official was standing RIGHT there and didn’t call it.
They also missed a facemask on the 4th and 1 which the Packers didn’t make.
Agree re the injuries! Jordy
Woohoo Pack!
LOVED the Hail Mary at the end of the first half (and I don’t understand how the Giants let it happen…although I’m glad they did!)
In another example of what the heck is wrong with people, Steelers assistant coach, Joey Porter, was arrested and faces charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, resisting arrest, public drunkenness and terroristic threats after assaulting a doorman at a Pittsburgh bar.
I completely agree and I think the college targeting rule should make it’s way to the NFL. Until players are thrown out of the game, I don’t think you will see change.
That’s crazy about Joey Porter. Mike Tomlin and the Rooney’s will certainly not like that at all!
