Art and college aps?

I’m really passionate about art and have talent in drawing and painting, but I’m not interested in going to art school because I want to study biology.

So, if I were to apply to a school that doesn’t solely focus on the arts but offers art classes, should I send a portfolio?

If they’re good, yes, you should send an arts supplement.

Definitely! You should also consider the Brown-RISD dual-degree program. That way you could pursue both, and Brown has a fairly respectable Neuroscience program.

you’re in the exact same situation i’m in! though i’m actually looking for an art-related career. i highly suggest looking at some BFA-BA Joint Programs (beyond Brown-RISD, which is extremelyy selective)

but regardless where you go, you can always send in an art supplement, and make sure you can display how passionate you are because it definitely sets you apart. plus, drawing is VERY applicable to science, esp. biology. if you can develop some pieces that pertain to biology (cells, DNA, RNA, blood vessels, etc), it will prove how you can interconnect your interests and abilities. best of luck!
