"Ashton Kutcher to make Two And A Half Men debut"

My H watched it and reported that Ashton is the “same” in whatever he does. I have to agree. He’s pretty one dimensional regardless of what script is coming out of his mouth.

two more episodes to succeed or two more episodes to face possible axing? My money is on the latter.

No matter how one slices it, 2 1/2 Men was a one-man show, and that man was the deeply flawed Charlie Sheen. /Looking for a fork!

xiggi, I don’t think 2 1/2 Men was a one man show but I do think that Charlie Sheen was a big piece of the pie!

Well, sticking to the pie theme, I think that “The proof of the pudding is the eating.”

We’ll see how well it will work for this cast in the next future.

I thought they should have brought on Hugh Grant as the Charlie Sheen replacement (who supposedly they had discussions with) and introduce him as somehow related to Rose - remember she spent 1 season (or so) in England.

"No matter how one slices it, 2 1/2 Men was a one-man show, " - Yes and No. It would not have worked as well without the funny interactions with the rest of the cast.

^^

Of course, there were needed interactions with the rest of the cast. My definition of a one-man show is not that literal, but that the rest of the cast is much less important. For instance, in Frazier, the dad, Niles, and several others were often allowed to steal the evening, but the show would not exist without its central character. And, the rest of the cast was extremely talented.

In this case, they are merely good to very good, and AK is like the rest of the cast a mere supporting actor. This thing is doomed.

Re: other shows-I think The Office will succeed. I loved Steve Carrell as Michael Scott but I also really loved James Spader’s new character, Robert California. Of course, though,I’ve always been a big James Spader fan. I thought Ashton Kutcher(who I like) was fine but I just didn’t see him pushing the show forward in any meaningful way. But I still think the way Charlie was written off was unfortunate so maybe things will improve as the show goes on.

I have been a big fan of Two and a Half Men, but Chuck Lorre and the other creator should have given it a rest already. Jake was cute as a little boy, but after eight seasons, he doesn’t qualify as a “half” anymore. Charlie Sheen was getting too long in the tooth to be chasing young girls. As he aged, it became very creepy to have him jumping into bed so indiscriminately. When he went off the rails in real life, the producers should have just ended the show. I think it’s a sign of their greed and egomania that they’re trying to keep it going.
