Hey, I know housing apps start on April 20th, but how do you sign up?
Is it only online or can it be done by paper? And if online, how do you access it?
Which dorm/community (if you know) is more studious. I’m not a party person and I would prefer not to live with someone who is…
Lastly how do you get your BU email account?

The deadline for deposits for new students is May 1. So, how can housing apps start April 20th. Is their an advantage to getting the housing app in early? Do you get a better dorm? What is the best dorm?

I’m talking about transfers. I heard some people had issues getting housing last year.

Everyone can choose your dorm preference, but they put you where there’s room. Housing is mixed so there’s no general freshman dorm or anything.

one new dorm is going to be finished for august 2009. over the next few years they are completely rebuilding the newing and dickinson communities – but they are doing it gradually – they built one new newing building, and then will tear down a couple of old newing buildings to make room for the next new newing building, etc. completion of the new dickinson and newing is scheduled to be sometime in 2013. the gradual replacement means there is no loss of dorm space while they are doing this.

i don’t know for sure how they chose who will live in the new newing building – i think it was treated like any newing building during housing selection - which means current newing students probably had a shot at selecting rooms there – but they also probably reserved rooms for freshmen as well – in general they reserve rooms in all the dorms for freshmen so that freshmen have the chance to room in any of the communities.

I was gonna put Newing at the top of my list- I’m pretty positive I want to live corridor-style, and I also wanted a shot at getting into the new dorm. But, how are the older Newing dorms? Both size-wise as well as socially. I didn’t get a chance to see them when I was there.

newing has the reputation of being where a lot of students in frats and sororities live.
also realize - whether you are in the new newing building or one of the old ones, you will be very close to where the new construction will be taking place – and they start very early in the morning. i don’t personally know how noisy it gets.

the truth is, despite the fact that new students spend an enormous amount of time worrying about which community will be best for them, most people end up liking whatever community they end up in. you just need to be open to meeting new people and finding the group you mesh with.

i have a question … i was told by someone in the decker school of nursing … whoever in that department that reviews applications that mine hasn’t been reviewed and doesn’t have a decision and how they aren’t accepting anymore student into decker. does this mean that i will not get into Binghamton at all ? … not even as an undeclared major ?
