Hi Jisito! That’s great to hear! We are sending out decisions between now and April 1. Good luck to your son!

I am talking about Biology or Chemistry.

Ialan37 - If you applied into Early Childhood/Elementary Ed, Urban Ed, Special Ed, or Deaf/Hard of Hearing Ed with Bio or Chem as your subject, you will be accepted into the 5 year program. For those programs there is no 4 year, Bachelors Degree only option. If you applied into Bio or Chem Teacher Prep (That’s how it’s written on the supplement but it is the equivalent of Secondary Education with Bio or Chem) that is only offered as a 4 year program. As with any major, you can certainly switch into or out of any program once you are here. I hope that helps. If not, give us a call at 609.771.2131 and we’ll try to explain it a little better.

Thanks for the answer! That was what I was wondering.

I recently received my PAWS account (after 2/15) and noticed my transcript was never sent. After seeing this, I immediately had my counselor send it in. Will this affect me since I sent it after 2/15? And it still says the status is “initiated.” How long does it take to process?

Thanks!

Hello-

My son applied in November 2011. After the early decision date.
I was wondering what order do you review the over 10k in applications.
Do you go by date submitted or alphabetical or something else?
I have read them some folks have received a second review letter by now.

Thanks

Michael

Hi JesseY! That’s okay. The supplemental material deadline (Transcripts, letters of rec, etc) is March 1, so you are in before that. If your transcript was sent via US Post mail, it will take us a little while for us to receive, process and match it with your file, so don’t be alarmed if it isn’t reflected in PAWS right away.

Hi Toom21! We try, for the most part, to read in the order that the applications were completed in. If you son submitted his application in November, but didn’t complete it until January he probably hasn’t been read just yet. To be considered complete, the applicant must have submitted their common app, transcript, SAT/ACT scores, and application fee. If you give us a call at 609.771.2131, we can look up his file and let you know what stage it’s in.

I was wondering about sending in midyear grades because my friend told me you had to so I filled out the form and handed it in. However I’m not positive if it is required or not, also I applied quite late in January so does that affect my chances of getting in?

Hi Claymatthews! We don’t require students to send in their mid year grades, but it certainly helps, especially if the application hasn’t be reviewed just yet. Applying late in January won’t affect your chances of being admitted, but it will most likely affect your notification date. Because you applied closer to the application deadline, you probably won’t be hearing until closer to the April 1 deadline.

Hi! My application was put under second review, but I got an e-mail today asking me to choose a new major, as mine was full. Is it only that I didn’t make it into the major that I was put under second review? OR, is it that my major got filled up before the comitee got the chance to do a second look. I’m a little confused, haha. Thanks :)

i haven’t heard anything from tcnj yet, and i found out my major was full through my friend, and not tcnj, what do i do?

Hey Meowcats5! That just means your application went through the second review and we decided, we couldn’t offer you a spot in the major you chose, but we like to consider your application for a different major as we think you may be a good fit for TCNJ. If you are interested in pursuing a different major, submit the request so that we can re-review you application for that major.

Hi Willthethrill32! You can just sit back for now. Your application probably hasn’t been reviewed yet. If you are admissible to TCNJ, but your major has been filled, we will certainly contact you via email before making a final decision on the application.

If i got the email today saying that my major was full, does that mean I have a good chance of getting in? Or do you send this message to everyone? In the email it said it was only to a select group of students. Is this really the case?

Hi Eal94! The students who received that email were strong applicants who chose a very competitive major. As the email states, if you opt to change you major, your file will be re-reviewed for your new major. It is not an automatic accept. Students who received the email and do not wish to change their major will most likely be placed on the wait list. A final decision will come over the next few weeks.

Hi, my daughter applied at the end of December and is eagerly awaiting to hear from TCNJ. It sound like her admittance may be affected by whether her major is full or not. If her major was full and she chose another major, could she at some point switch back to her original intended major? If not, then I think TCNJ should make this clear to future applicants, as the application process is then more like rolling admissions and not like regular admissions. Thanks.

Hello AdmissionStaff,
I have a question regarding admission decisions for my application. I am not sure whether this is the correct thread or I should ask the Dean. Anyway this is seemingly an impatient question. I have applied for UMDNJ 7 year BS/MD program through TCNJ. I am done with both interviews and the result will be announced via TCNJ during the first week of April. I have selected BMEG-BS01 (Engg - Biomedical BS) as Alternate Program of Study, with BMEG-BS02 as primary.
So my question is whether my regular admission decision will be notified before or as part of that decision?

Since your accepted students day is March 31st, how can I attend if the decision is mailed during 1st week of April with UMDNJ’s decision?

Will there be another day for students admitted to accelerated programs?

Thanks,
-njCave

Hi Jbroadway. If a student changes their major before enrolling at TCNJ, it is not guaranteed that they will be able to switch back into their original major once on campus. TCNJ does not operate under rolling admissions. Admissions decisions are still being made and the time at which a student applies, as long as it is before the deadline, does not affect their decision.

Hi NJCave. You should be hearing about admissions into your second choice major before April 1 so that you can attend Accepted Students Day. In years past, the 7 year program has had a separate recognition ceremony for students accepted into that accelerated program. All students accepted into the 7 year program will be notified of that in their acceptance letter.

Do you know when students will be notified of acceptance into an accelerated program, or is it mainly dealt with by the UMDNJ/SUNY (depending on if you applied to medicine or optometry)?

We are looking for a place to register for Accepted Students Day on the website, but do not see it anywhere. Can you direct us to where we should be registering for this or do you just show up that day without pre-registering?

Hi Ialan137! Since the review process for those programs is so long, applicants for that program won’t hear until the first week in April. You will hear a final decision on your second choice major before then.

Sandromo, congratulations on your acceptance! We will be sending an email out to all accepted students in mid-March, prompting students to indicate whether or not they plan on joining us on the 31st. Formal registration for the College’s Accepted Students Day event won’t be required.

In the mean time, I would encourage you to revisit the Accepted Student Events page on our ‘Join the Pride’ site to access a (growing and searchable) list of Accepted Students Day program offerings: [Accepted Student Events | Join the Pride](<a href=“TCNJ | The College of New Jersey”>TCNJ | The College of New Jersey) .
