I’m accepted to EECS as a regents candidate, what is the probability that I will die from the curriculum?
@PerfunctoryPeter ^ Many of my friends have made it out alive, you will too! My bf graduated in 2.5 years in EECS (should have been 2, but he took a class that was later not required and needed a different class to graduate). He had a lot of 20 unit semesters though, and those were hectic. He just graduated last semester
So, this might sound nonsense, but is BERKELEY a so-not-college-life? Like, I was admitted to UC DAVIS and SANTA BARBARA as well, and I really like how they are; all the bikes and so. Is Berkeley so different? Can you ride bikes instead of using bus or car, are people friendly there?
What do you do if you’re waitlisted?
Hey guys, I just got admitted to UC Berkeley for the college of chemistry. Just wondering, how selective is the college of chemistry compared to others. Also, I heard that the college that your major is in (college of chemistry, college of engineering, college of natural resources, etc.) will be looked at rather than the actual major itself. For example, will students who applied for chemical biology be compared with students in chemical biology or will they be compared with students who had majors in the college of chemistry (chemical biology, chemistry, chemical engineering). Sorry if my wording is a bit confusing.
You already were accepted?
What difference does it make?
My son has been accepted as regent scholar at UC Berkeley. He also has been accepted as USC Trustee scholar for full tuition. At UC Berkeley , he applied as BioEngineering and at USC he applied with intended major as Computer Engg. and CS with premed focus. USC will be a cheaper option [17k at USC vs 34k at UCB] but UC Berkeley is more reputable .
So, We are exploring both options and I would appreciate your response especially if you are a current student at UCB.

I am very curious to know how many UC Berkeley BioE undergrads actually apply and get accepted to good medical schools.
-
How difficult is to maintain high GPA in BioE at UCB to be able to get into medical schools? What is average GPA of BioE students ?
-
He also is very strong at Maths and likes CS. In case, he later decides to pursue EECS or double major with EECS or minor EECS or L&S CS, what are his possibilities and chances? Will he have any priority to switch because he is regent scholar, if he keeps his GPA high.
Thanks for your time!
Is it a good idea to have a teacher mention the school they studied from in a LOR? One of my teachers, who happens to teach me a core subject (that I do pretty well in), also happens to have studied from UC Berkeley (has taught me three classes in ninth and tenth, and knows me pretty well). I was thinking about having him mention that somewhere in the LOR, which he is writing for me, since I will be applying to Cal.
Hi,
I’m an international student who did the IB and is going to do ChemEng in Berkeley College of Chemistry, and I want to ask about credit transfer. By my calculations, my IB exams alone should net me 35.9 Credits (20 credits for getting above 30 for IB and 5.3*3 for 3 HLs with more than 5 points in IB) (Websites I got info off listed at the bottom).
How exactly do these credits help me in my degree? Do they help to satisfy the breadth credit requirement (19 Credits)?

kind of an odd question, but does Berkeley put the student’s middle name on college degrees?
Hi!! Do you know if we have to sign up for Cal Day? Or do we just show up?
@AurangFall17 the UC system doesn’t look at LOR’s except for special circumstances.
@LucindaEmma
For CalDay you just show up. They have lots of tours and events going on.
Great! Thanks! @gobeers
Hi I want to transfer to UC berkeley as an intended major in Computer Science I’m a high school senior and I’ll be attending to a community college. What do I need to transfer to UC berkeley ? I’ve checked assist.org to see the classes that I need but my community college doesn’t offer courses articulated to UC Berkeley’s COMPSCI 61A, COMPSCI 61C, and COMPSCI 70 only the community colleges in San Francisco have those courses I live in Anaheim California so I plan to go there in summer to take them is it possible to do that? I would really appreciate your advise thank you!
Hey guys. Just wondering is the college of chemistry hard to get into (what’s the acceptance rate?). Also, for the college of chemistry which major is it hardest to get into and which major is it easiest to get into (chemistry, chemical biology, chemical engineering)
If you take the SAT and the ACT do you need to report your score for both tests? I have a 2330 and want to know if i should attempt geting a 36 on the ACT
@smilelikeabunny Oh wow…what about the Ivies? Thanks!
Is it still true that professors can only give out certain number of A’s per class? What’s up with that?
I know this question has been asked numerous times, but I still don’t have a clear answer; How many students are admitted off of the UC Berkeley waitlist?
