Astrophysics

Hey can anyone give me more information on the degree in astrophysics? I was looking at major options and thats one looked very interesting to me being interested in both areas. Is it just a double major and what makes is so special that it gets its own name/degree?

Astronomy is just a solid grounding in astronomy. Sufficient for maybe becoming an astronomy teacher. It gives you more room to pursue other studies/majors. Astrophysics is for if you want to go on to graduate studies and get a phD. It’s more in depth requiring grounding in physics as well.

I intend to pursue astrophysics. :-)

I’d also add, astrophysics may have more data analysis. More math based. i.e. finding models to explain changes in spectral shift. I believe that’s where the computer science component of the major becomes essential.
