They release merit mid-November, mid-January and early February.

If you’ve visited previously the WED is not necessary IMO. We hadn’t and that’s why we signed up.

By the way, Auburn did a great job with the WED today. Very well organized and everyone going out of their way to make people feel welcome and invited. No wonder the school is so popular these days.

I should have asked this today at WED but I didn’t. What is the purpose of ranking dorms? Can’t they pick from whatever is available when it is their turn in March?

Thank you!!!

Do you think admissions person meant most competitive because ea1 has higher stats kids applying?

Acceptance packet. I had hoped it would include merit letter but it did not

I am honestly not sure but my completely uneducated impression was that the threshold to get in was higher. I am guessing that is due to wanting to see the stats of the kids in future rounds of decisions. Again, totally conjecture by me.

Last year cycle they only awarded the higher OOS merit awards in mid Nov
.it was a cascading effect
.with the lower tiers awarded later. It caused all kinds of chaos. You can look at last year’s College Confidential thread in Nov-Dec-Jan to see how it shook out. They are waiting longer in the cycle to see the test score averages before awarding competitive merit.

Also, my student has a 32 ACT
. I am not expecting merit info until early Jan since they appear to have dropped the mid Dec award cycle this year (according to website).

FYI last year’s cycle they only awarded the highest levels in mid Nov
.the other tiers were awarded later in mid Dec, Jan and Feb. The Dec award appears to be cut this cycle. It caused an uproar

My student is over a 4.25 GPA and has a 32 ACT as well. If they wait until January to decide merit, not sure he won’t be moving on mentally at that point considering the other potential options for which we should know about merit well before then.

The timing really shook things up last year. I checked with the scholarship office in Sept to see if they would be following the same timing as last year and the response was that they will determine that when the first round of merit awards are released.

Stupid question: AU housing appt is tomorrow but my DS has a test during the time slot so I’ll be doing it for him. I can’t find anything in the portal. Where do you find his email or the housing link? I found the housing section but there’s no blue banner with the link.

Just a heads up for EA2 people- Our daughter’s GPA has been posted in her portal.
