Wow Djokovic.

Thank god Murray losttttttttt.

^ LIKE

Novak again. Awesome.

“We left late in the third set for Australia Day fireworks so missed the end of the match.”

You left before it was over?!?

They were lovely, btw, and I am glad they stop play now during the show. I think they use to not, and then at some point they where letting the players decide if they wanted to continue on or stop.

CSIHSIS, good luck with your interview. I am sure you will be dressed appropriately. ;)

eb, I was watching on TV from Perth - and our fireworks started at 8 p.m. I wasn’t in Melbourne!

I only started watching non-slams in like October so I’ll have a nice schedule for a few months, but now it’s really a long wait until Roland Garros. Hoping Nadal’s comeback is huge. And because his ranking is so low he’s oing to take out a whole bunch of top guys :o

CSIHSIS, we had Jim Courier as one of our commentators here (he’s great) and he said that without Nadal the tournaments reminded him of the “missing man formation”. I hope he’s healthy enough to come back soon.

Tired, my bad, I assumed you were at the match.

I’m trying to get my son interested in doing his semester abroad in Perth, but he’s leaning more towards Melbourne or Sydney. Since I’ve been to both of them but never Perth, I am trying to change his mind. I hear it is just beautiful there.

What did you think of Lleyton’s commentating? I’ve heard he’s quite good.

Hey, emilybee, Lleyton was good - better than I thought he’d be. He didn’t commentate on the final because he was heading somewhere (Taipei?) for Davis Cup.

We love Perth, and it is an incredibly beautiful city, but I haven’t made it to M or S yet (other than the airport in S) so I have no opinion on which would be a better spot for your son. There do seem to be a lot of American exchange students at the University of Western Australia.

^ I think he’s worried Perth is so far away from everything and he wants to be able travel to places like the Sunshine Coast, GBR and Hobart have friends who live in Taz.

Seems that people have warmed up to LL more as a commentator then they ever have as a player.

Perth IS far from everything, and it’s expensive to travel within Australia. Heck, everything’s expensive.

Definitely a love/hate relationship with Lleyton, but Pat Rafter is very well-loved!

Back then I was a Kim Clijsters-Lleyton Hewitt fan. But everything worked out in the end for Kim.

Kim Clijsters- I always thought she was a class act. Some of the other women could/should learn from her behavior.

“Definitely a love/hate relationship with Lleyton, but Pat Rafter is very well-loved!”

I know!!! Pat is and always will be top of my list and I have been very fortunate to meet him on several occasions - he is even better up close and personal.

Was thrilled when Kim binned Llyeton. I was sad when she retired as she is the only woman on tour who I liked.

Went through a little withdrawal last night without any tennis. I did watch the replay of the Men’s Final in the afternoon.

Davis Cup starts on Friday. ;)

Five weeks til Indian Wells!!! It’s the fifth slam. Cannot wait to go with my tennis pals.

Finally got around to watching the final. After watching the first two sets, I was wondering how Murray lost. He was playing somewhat better than Djokovic and the tie-break in the second when Murray seemed to lose it. Then he took off his socks and there’s this huge blister on the ball of his foot. It looks like the medic put on something like Betadine and then wrapped it with a cushion under the ball. They also show that his toes were bandaged and there was a half piece in the front of his foot.

Murray was clearly bothered by the problem and Djokovic made sure to move him around a lot. Maybe he picked up the blister from the long match with Fed. Or maybe those ankle braces make his movements a little unnatural resulting in more friction? At any rate, I’m impressed by Murray’s physical fitness and his tactics of hitting to the corners which he executed well in the first set and most of the second.

I thought the same, BCE, that Murray was outplaying Djokovic, who was looking very rattled and seemed to be having trouble with his shoes. On the other hand, D had 5 break points and couldn’t convert any in the first set.

In the second set, Andy could do no wrong with his first serve. I felt he was playing better all through that set, and then he lost the tiebreak!

Tennis players’ feet are never pretty, but I didn’t really need the closeup of Andy’s!

Murray is a real trooper. Some other player could have used a medical timeout even if they’re just getting an attack of nerves.
