Yeah, my school has the average on their website, and I know for a fact they send it in my school report.

I think my (private, all boys’, Jesuit, day/boarding) school’s average is (claimed to be) around 1350.

Precisely.

Well for my school, about 40% of 11th Grade normally take it, varies according to the batch and the number of people planning to go to the US. This time, based on scores so far, about an average of 1900/2400.

My schools average SAT is 890 old. Will colleges like UIUC and PSU see this and accept the fact that I am struggling for a 1250 and feel bad for me?

I think most HS GCs submit a school profile to help the colleges get a “feel” for the school. The colleges can use this to assess the competitiveness of the school & draw their own conclusions about how well the student might fit (or not) at their college, opportunities at the HS, etc.

i just wanna know as to why the Math average isnt 750 +
Its 6th grade stuff…

I would have to agree with that. I just hate going to my school. The math average is barely approaching 450, and the verbal average is slightly lower around 430-440.

the nationwide act average is 20, so thats pretty good

my schools average sat is 900 :-D

out of about 155-160 students, usually at least 5 score 1500+
and about 50% don’t take the SAT at all
(gotta love those magnet programs placed in the worst high school in the county to keep it from going under)

The SAT I Math measures how well and how quickly a person can perform on multiple choice tests. Some people seem to have a natural aptitude for this. Other people can learn and improve using practice tests and prep classes. Other people continue to have problems. A high score is not related to intelligence, but of course a person who can naturally do well on multiple choice tests can do better in some college courses. (Ironically, math isn’t one of those courses.) It is something of a savant situation but not as uncommon. I have no ability with foreign languages, but my S can pick them up extremely easily. In the final analysis, being able to take mult choice tests well is not that valuable a talent after you get out of school.

1760 is the avg in my school, and people on this forum have told me its not that great a school.

i hope universities take into consideration my schools sat average when they see my scores. The average verbal at my school is approaching 500, and the average math is about 550, no info for the writing section. Actually out of the top 5 people in my school I´m like the only one who scored 2200+, the rest where below 2000…yay I’m so proud lol.

My schools average math is approaching 450, and the average verbal is approaching 440. Only about 1-2 students get over a 1300. Over half the students get under 1050. While the rest are between 1050 and 1250. Each graduating class has about 370 students in it. Do you see how much it sucks?

Oh and did I forget to mention…the HIGHEST PSAT score was a 182. More than half of the students scored between 120 and 130. The second highest I think was a 161. Then around 10-20 people with 150’s. And the rest had 130-140. These were the results of the school my GC showed me.
