Azusa Pacific University

Hi, I’m considering applying for Azusa Pacific University. I plan on majoring in a BFA in theatre (or screen and stage acting) and possibly a double in BA in Communications. I was wondering what the acceptance rate is for the BFA program. I currently have a 3.9 unweighted and a 4.2 weighted GPA. I’m a Junior and High School. I’ve got a 32 on my ACT but have yet to take the SAT. I’m also a semi for National Merit. I was also wondering about opportunities within the theatre program and General info about the school. I’m baptist and from the South so

I’m not sure about the BFA program itself but my sister attended there a few years ago and LOVED IT. Every one of her friends loved it and i haven’t really heard about anyone being unhappy there. APU offers an excellent education and my brother in law is going to med school at Loma Linda and felt prepared by APU. Your chances of getting in are pretty high. My sister’s scores were lower than yours (about a 3.7 gpa) and she got in just fine. It’s not too competitive of a school in that regard. Other info about the school is that its right by the mountains and is on the edge of LA. Azusa itself is not the nicest place necessarily but it has a definite college town feel and the beautiful two campuses really outshine the surrounding area. There is a definite sense of community! And of course in LA you just have to hop on the freeway and end up anywhere you want to go. hope this was helpful!
p.s.-watch APU’S youtube videos and student voices-they are very insightful!

-experience-sister and brother in law attended there and i have visited twice.

Thanks! If you don’t mind me asking, how great we’re the scholarships your sister and brother in law received? Were they worth while?

I’m not really sure about the scholarship my sister received. She received some money but she didn’t take it that seriously and her test scores were pretty average I suppose. The main reason she didn’t receive that much was she didn’t even apply until the latest deadline, so money was scarcer. As for my brother in law, he was a track star and got most of college covered with a sports scholarship. Sorry if that wasn’t the answer you’re looking for but I’m sure with your grades and test score you will be well accounted for. APU is a private school after all and thus has a plethora of money, and they will especially help out of state students:)

If you maintained your GPA at a 3.9 or above by final junior grades, then you’re eligible to apply for their full-tuition Trustee scholarship:

http://www.apu.edu/trusteesscholarship/

It’s competitive/holistic, but your stats make you eligible to apply. Keep in mind that it requires a separate application.

If you don’t get the Trustee, you’ll qualify for the President’s half-tuition automatically: http://www.apu.edu/onestop/finances/aid/academic/
