Congrats to everyone who got in! It’s a great school and I still love it
Elite schools will often waitlist applicants who they believe won’t end up going to their school (either because their application shows promise for getting into a better school or because they’re not a great fit for the school they’re being waitlisted at). Could be a compliment. I was waitlisted at schools with a 30-40% acceptance rate and accepted to Columbia and Harvard. Seems random but schools really do want a high yield rate so they’re not going to take someone who they think will end up going somewhere else.
My D is waitlisted. SAT 1600 one sitting. Lots of summer science research. Lots of science awards, competitions first place, and so on. NMF. US pres. scholar nominee. Top student. Deferred from Columbia ED. Rejected from MIT. Common app essay is showcased by AP English teacher how to write a common app essay. Excellent ECs and volunteering, leadership positions.
D20 was waitlisted
ACT 33
GPA 3.8X (can’t remember to that 2nd digit, lol)
Good essay and recs, solid ECs
Barnard was a reach, this seemed like a good outcome but also clarified for her that it’s not at the top of her list. Has options she’s more excited about with substantial merit. Will not be pursuing waitlist spot or LOCI.
Hey everyone! I was accepted yesterday (and cried about it)! Still in shock. Does anyone know if there is a GroupMe or something like that for the Class of 2024?
@avaca02 if u find one, can you post it on here?

1520 SAT, 5.19/5.0 GPA.

@corgis98 Yes, for sure. There is a Facebook private group that you can request to join, maybe when I’m accepted to that there will be something else available?
Barnard or Notre Dame ? I need help.

I thought my essays were really strong and my interview went well so I’m surprised. 3.9/4.8 GPA, fairly good extracurriculars… maybe it was my 1350 SAT that did me in lol. Either way this is in my second waitlist and doesn’t really bode well for the rest of my out of state decisions ?

What was the acceptance rate for the class of 2024?
the acceptance rate for the class of 2024: 1022/9411 = 10.9%

Accepted!! Though I didn’t get any financial aid so i’m not sure if it’s worth committing there. I love Barnard but I plan on doing bio research and then going to med school so the expenses will just pile on. Anyone have thoughts?? Is it worth it??
I think you should consider all of the options that you have and the financial implications of each. Barnard is obviously very expensive, though they do offer good research opportunities and pre-med options if that is what you are looking for. That being said, med school is also very expensive, so if there are cheaper options that could get you to the same place, you should consider them. Ultimately, it’s all up to you, and I’m sure you’ll do great wherever you end up!
hey guys, how can i access the discord group for accepted students?
