Barnard Waitlist 2024

The Barnard Transfer applicants have not been notified of their decisions. They were supposed to start notifying people on May 1- but nothing as of yet. The waitlist for freshman applicants has probably gone silent because the admissions office is trying to get the transfer decisions out today or early next week- Just a hunch. So many kids will not make a decision about coming to NYC in the fall that the waitlist will probably have activity all summer. Plenty of girls will decide to defer admission if fall classes are online.

Transfer decisions released yesterday for Barnard and Columbia. Maybe waitlist will have activity again next week!

If it’s of any reassurance, I think the email asking for contact information was targetted at international students, because it asked for our country’s timezone, ideal method of contact, availability etc.

I was subsequently also admitted with the other international students who received this email. I did not apply for financial aid and submitted 2 LOCIs, just to emphasise my continued interest. I sent the LOCIs about 3 weeks apart from each other.

Best of luck everyone!

anyone received any offers today?

@mathnerd77 - nothing on this end. Just form replies from the admissions office to emails.

I was just taken off the waitlist at another University and I applied for financial aid. Still haven’t heard anything from Barnard but just here to give a little hope to all us financial aid people. Also the school I got taken off the waitlist at is not need blind in any part of their admission decision process. I’m still holding out hope for Barnard, but have definitely found excitement about attending the schools I was admitted to!

has anyone called lately and asked about the list? i’ve tried calling a few times but it always redirects to voicemail :frowning:

Yea I also tried to call but realized that no one is in the office because of quarantine…At the end of the voicemail they say email is best.

If I sent my LOCI almost a month ago and haven’t received a call yet, does that mean I’ve lost my chance?

@palais no definitely not! i would email your AO to get their phone number so you can call them. their phone number is in their email signature and they always pick up if u call them directly.

if i want to call my ao, what should i say? i’m in a similar boat where barnard is my #1 choice but.l i have yet to hear back!

How do you find your AO

Does anyone know when Barnard closed their waitlist last year, to give some idea of when we will hear anything (Be it good or bad lol).

last year, students were accepted off the waitlist as late as early/mid july. it just depends on the class size. most schools have a cut-off date at around august 1st for waitlists but who knows how it’ll be affected with corona

I’m guessing that none of us are going to be accepted bc it should have been easier for schools to take off from the waitlist and considering how it should have been easier for them to take off and keep updates because of covid making everything black and white on admission, I don’t think it looks too bright.

Did anyone email their AO to see what their timeline looks like and get a response? I didn’t get a response from calling, so I think they have closed it…):

I emailed the Waitlist email and they said that the waitlist is still open and they will tell us when it closes.

my admissions officer is also not available for a week so it is possible that they were given vacation or something of that sort. we might not hear back for a while

On the contrary, nothing is black and white right now. A lot of students might take a gap year if/when they find out schools are not opening. A lot of students are waiting to hear about various school statuses. Since quite a few schools changed their commit/deposit dates to June 1, plenty of students still have left options open at several schools. Some people might decide on other schools on June 1, which could open up spots at Barnard. Waitlist is probably going to go very late this year.

this is going to sound dumb but what do you say in the email to your AO because I don’t want to come off as desperate/annoying and nag them about the waitlist but at the same time I’m stressed out
