Chili Davis is now blaming Millenials for losing his job as Cubs’ hitting coach:
^^^^ JBJ is a streaky hitter. When he’s struggling, he looks awful, just disgusting. When he’s on it, he’s as hot as anyone and has good power.
When Alex Cora and the batting coach (forget his name) were asked who hits the most impressive bombs in BP , without hesitation, they said JBJ (crushes it). That’s ahead of JD, Mookie, Devers, Moreland, Benny, etc.
He has the pop. Just needs to stay on it. Swings and misses a LOT!
^ JBJ’s swing gets long which causes that swing and miss over the breaking ball (sometimes it looks like he misses by a foot or more). Mookie on the other hand is short and quick to the ball. Stays back and trusts those lightning fast hands.
I just read that the Dodgers are/were offering $22 tickets to Game 5 of the NLCS with Kershaw pitching. Wow. Simply amazing. #-o

I probably paid at least 10x that amount to see the Giants-Cubs Game #4 of the NLDS back in 2016.
Dodgers fans are terrible. I went to a game many years ago, and the stadium was half-empty until the 3rd inning, and then half-empty again by the 6th inning.
And I’ve pretty much lost what little respect I still had for Machado. I hope no one offers him a contract in the off-season. Why would anyone want a non-hustling, dirty piece of garbage like him on their team?
I’m showing my age now, but in my early years as a baseball fan there were no divisions and no playoffs. Just the National League and the American League and the two league champions met in the World Series.
The idea that a team with the 10th best record in the MLB could make it to the World Series seems wrong to me.
Yep that was weak. Reminded me of Grayson Allen of Duke fame. The rumors were the Giants were going to kick the tires on Machado, but I hope last night’s stupidity puts that one to rest. His character was revealed to all.
And no one is talking about Houston’s alleged cheating, which Oakland and other teams have already complained about.
@sherpa, did you know Babe Ruth?
@twoinanddone - The closest I got was going to college basketball games with Ty Cobb’s son when I dated his daughter…
^ How old are you, 90?!
I remember when the AL and NL champs met in the WS - no playoffs of any kind. I think the first year of divisional play was 1969, a memorable year for any Mets fan.
A horrible year for any Orioles fan.
And Boston cardiologists again are guaranteed full employment! Send the bills to Kembrel.
Thank God for Benintendi. There were some amazing defensive plays by both teams.
This has been a fun thread to follow while watching the games. I think I heard @notrichenough swearing at Kimbrel all the way out here in LA during the bottom of the ninth, especially when he walked the batter before Bregman.
That was me swearing! Kimbrel - what is the deal? Great all year until the last month of the season. He was the one piece of the pen they could trust. Now he’s horrible and the middle guys are getting it done.
These late games are killing me.
I don’t know what has happened to Kimbrel. In September, he only gave up runs in 1 game out of 10, batters hit .034 (!) against him.
In the playoffs he has given up a run or more in each of his 4 appearances, batters are hitting .300, he’s averaging a walk per inning. It’s shocking he hasn’t cost them a game yet.
Maybe he can’t handle the pressure any more.
The late games are killing me as well -between the Red Sox, Celtics and Sunday night Patriots game I am exhausted!! Luckily the kids have a day off of school tomorrow so I can sleep in.
What did you guys think about the home run/not a home run call? I don’t know a ton about baseball rules but to me it looked like he was definitely catching that ball of someone hadn’t bumped his glove.
I watched the video several times in slo mo. It is fan interference by none other than a guy wearing an orange shirt and let’s just say that I am not sad about it, as I would love an East Coast v West Coast battle. However, during these high stakes games, they may need to remind fans every inning to keep their hands to themselves L-)
