@antiquedealermom did you verify that she actually checked EA as her application type? Did you also verify her application was complete? Kids aren’t great at doing that and if her school did not send her transcript or test scores, she may be in limbo. I would check on all of this and also have her send a nice quick email, asking if there is anything she can do to strenghten her application. Have her state that she applied EA and the date she sent it in so it send off alarm bells if she fell through the cracks.
Hi. Thanks for your input! I had her do this yesterday and her admissions counselor got back with her immediately to say they have everything and basically it’s in a queue, so to speak. Sounds to me like it’s been moved to the side for whatever reason (overqualified as suggested above or lack of demonstrated interest, etc). I just think if all the above kids got answers in anywhere from a few days to month and hers has been there and complete for two months, something is amiss. But, at least we know she has done everything on her end …now we wait!
I have weigted gpa 4.36, but no sat… still no respose yet. some of my frineds got the decision, they have a lower gpa than mine but they have sat score
@antiqudealermom I’m glad you at least know it’s all in. I’m sure it is more about the counselor’s workload. This year’s applications are very different, so some might be more loaded than others. Hang in there. I’m sure she will get in.
I hate waiting and I’m only the Mom. It’s so stressful and there is one thing I have learned FOR SURE (this is my 2nd kid to go through the college admissions process) there really is no rhyme or reason to a lot of the decisions. I know it is because of holistic review but when my son went through two years ago and I’d watch stats when schools would roll out admissions…so many times he might have slightly lower stats than someone but maybe they’d be deferred and he would be admitted with a big merit scholarship…so, maybe it was his ECs or essays. Or maybe it was how an admissions counselor was feeling the day they picked up his app…you just don’t know. Hang in there… hopefully they’ll have all the EAs out soon!!! Good luck to you.
@antiquedealermom I hear yeah! This is number 3 & 4 for me (they are identical twin boys) and I am certain I am more stressed than they are. I was actually shocked when one of them got into Baylor so early (we heard around the beginning of November and his application was complete 9/22). WGPA 4.0, 1270 SAT (he tried to take it again but it kept getting canceled). By graduation, he’ll have taken 13 Dual credit courses at Liberty U, he’s homeschooled for the last 2 years. He holds a welding apprentice job, skis, and plays lacrosse. He’s done several academic summer programs (Vanderbilt GT one and Economics for Leaders and FELC conference). We did visit when he was a Sophomore and he even sat in a class. He is business or prelaw.
His twin did not apply to Baylor, though I wish he had. He is going for mechanical engineering and has gotten into every school that has announced so far EXCEPT his top choice (CO School of Mines). He chose not to homeschool and goes to a very rigorous HS so his WGPA is only 3.45 SAT 1430, holds 2 jobs, did lacrosse, snowboards and plays ukulele, but I am not sure if he will get in. In past years, kids from his school with his stats ALWAYS got in because the counselor knew our program (literally 40 out of 160 kids graduating each year would get in and 10 would attend, it is joked as being a feeder school for Mines). This year, that counselor changed, so he doesn’t have the advantage and I am not sure she knows about the program, so his GPA is WAY under their average of 3.9, though his SAT is at the top of the middle 50%. He applied way early and they do rolling admissions. Many that applied after him have gotten in and we wait and wait and wait. We’ll know in a couple of weeks or, if they do what they have in past years, they could defer him and tell him in Spring (most get rejected). Biggest problem is that he has not taken ANY of the other options seriously, so we are basically starting the decision from square 1 if he gets rejected. Mines has been his #1 choice since 7th grade. SO DARN STRESSFUL!
Your kids sound amazing! Good luck to both of them. Fingers crossed on the School of Mines…the next few weeks are going determine a lot of things for a lot of kids. Dreams will be made and some will have their dreams crushed. This Mama just wants to know so I can stop stressing out…my blood pressure can’t take it!

Hi, @CollegeBoundBrit have you heard about your admission yet? Just wondering…
Hi @DNapier No, I haven’t heard yet. I’m not worried though as I assume that international admissions will take longer.
Has your daughter heard yet?
Not yet. She just did the interview with the counselor. We are in States though, but not in TX.
anyone received the christmas mail from the regional counselor regardless of admission results?
@mochiko Yes. I haven’t been admitted yet but received a Christmas email
Yes, we did too. I appreciate their Christmas email, but what we really need is for them to get their decisions out quickly!!
anyone who got admission received a Christmas email? It looks like only those person who didn’t get decision received a Christmas email.
We also received the Wishing you Safe and Joyful Holiday Season email. But, we have received acceptance earlier.
i just saw a missed call from Baylor. I was accepted EA and haven’t enrolled yet. Anyone know what it may be about?
My daughter received a call from a student asking if she had any questions, if she was planning to put down her deposit, etc. My daughter said it was a no pressure call - just maybe feeling the situation out to see what her plans were. She told them Baylor is a top choice, but she needs to wait for financial aid package and then make a decision.
My daughter just got the admission email from Baylor. Good luck to you too.
did she get the email or portal site update? anyway, congrats~~~
Thanks @mochiko. Both me and my daughter got the email and the portal updated too. Good luck to you too
