Baylor University Early Action / Early Decision for Fall 2024 Admission

It is. Or at least it has always been in the past.

Looks like we all have a long wait until late January for the merit offers, and then another month for I2E decisions.

I’m from NY so making the trip to Baylor is expensive! I wish I knew what the merit was before the I2E so I could make a better informed decision whether merit plus anything else would be enough to put it in my price range!

We picked the February I2E. You’ll know the merit by then. Certainly if your merit were too low you could cancel the hotel etc and get a credit for the flight.

My son didn’t get an I2E invitation. :unamused: Really worried merit will be low. Baylor is his 1st choice by far but his 2nd choice gave him 33k (per year) merit. I love Baylor for posting admissions early but it would be nice to know merit since we won’t get financial aid. I wonder why they are so much later with merit?

I am grateful for the early response from Baylor
was the first of the reach schools and having a yes from at least one has been good for everyone’s sanity. But not knowing the $$$ does make it a little tricky.

I agree. I miss Baylor’s old grid where you knew what merit you were going to get and you got the $$ with admission. It’s a black box now.

As for merit, it seems impossible to guess. In recent years, it seems that sometimes kids without I2E invites sometimes got higher merit than those who did. I2E itself is a crapshoot as to who is going to get anything extra at all.

D24 has received the highest general merit at every school she’s applied to so far, $27K to $36K per year. We would have to come in on the higher end for Baylor to be competitive.

So my daughter didn’t get an I2E invitation last year either. She wound up with 20K in merit though in February, which I guess for Baylor is pretty good.

One other note to help on this board, her friend waited until late April to decide between Baylor and SMU and Baylor came back with 5K more in merit at the last minute.

My daughter didn’t pick Baylor, decided on Trinity U for a smaller school and San Antonio  but we did love the school.

quick question, do we have to attend I2E even if you are still deciding whether or not you want to go to Baylor?

It’s my understanding that you only need to attend I2E if you want to be considered for the additional scholarship that it offers.

Is anyone who got an I2E invite willing to share stats? Son didn’t get one even though his SAT was well over the threshold and admissions counselor acted like he would get one. Trying to figure out what we missed here!

Thanks for the info! He is 1480 SAT - 3.95 unweighted/4.8 weighted - 2 varsity sports - job - volunteering - leadership position. We are so confused. He didn’t even get distinguished scholars.

Oversight?? :face_with_monocle: That’s a mighty impressive stat line for an application. Did you reach out to your admissions counselor?

We did - nothing back yet!

I applied to Baylor EA October 25, still haven’t heard anything. When did any accepted applicants here hear back in correlation with when they submitted applications? 6 weeks? Longer/shorter?

My son applied to baylor 8/16 and was notified 10/12

My son applied October 15 EA and we are still waiting. The wait has been really hard. Good luck! You are not alone.

My daughter applied 8/16 and was accepted 10/5.

We applied mid-August and heard back late October. They batch up applications for admission decision randomly, so the timing is in no way indicative of your prospects.
