This isn’t a shady moment…no need to make it seem that way. I’m just saying that if bc thought that they were a good fit on all fronts (including morals which in my personal opinion is heavily valued since there are so many applicants with the same stats) then they would have been accepted.

Accepted!!
4.45 Weighted GPA, 3.96 UW
Applied test optional!
Only took 3 APs, and no honors (all the AP/honors my school offers)
Very strong essays, EC, and LORs!

Congrats to all

My fin aid from BC was there tonight. I looked it up after getting the acceptance.

Thanks! We checked also but it’s empty. The status page doesn’t show anything except all the documents we uploaded from CSS. Does this mean that we didn’t get any?

Yours may not be loaded yet. My aid was there and those normal loans you can get were in the package too. They don’t do merit per se, but my needs based scholarship was pretty okay.

Son accepted to BC CSOM, denied to ND Mendoza, deferred and then waitlist to Villanova VSB. Does make you wonder

And congratulations to you on your advanced level of maturity. I know this stings pretty bad now, but you will find a great outcome and, if your post is an indication of your overall personality / ethics, you will shine wherever you attend and beyond!

I’d hire you in a second!

Rejected. In-state Catholic high school. 4.4 W/3.98 UW. Good EC’s. 1440 SAT. 6 APs/most rigorous courseload available.

Qualified students getting denied to these types of schools but getting acceptance to IVYs and some top tier.

Does anybody know when the admitted student day is? Thanks!

how difficult is to get off the waitlist?

I think last year they wait listed about 6,000. About 50% didn’t put their name on the list and withdrew and BC took about 150 of the 3000.

The dates are in your portal. There are several on campus and also receptions across the country.

Oh ok, thanks!

Rejected CSON after being deferred ED. 4.4 GPA test optional. Started a blood drive, chairperson of prom committee, stuco rep, etc.

You just reminded of these 2 passages in MIchael Sandel’s Justice:What;s the right thing to do?:

Dear Ms. (Unsuccessful applicant), We regret to inform you that your application for admission has been rejected. Please understand that we intend no offense by our decision. We do not hold you in contempt. In fact, we don’t even regard you as less deserving than those who were admitted. It is not your fault that when you came along society happened not to need the qualities you had to offer. Those admitted instead of you are not deserving of a place, nor worthy of praise for the factors that led to their admission. We are only using them—and you—as instruments of a wider social purpose. We realize you will find this news disappointing. But your disappointment should not be exaggerated by the thought that this rejection reflects in any way on your intrinsic moral worth. You have our sympathy in the sense that it is too bad you did not happen to have the traits society happened to want when you applied. Better luck next time. Sincerely yours…

And this one…

Dear successful applicant, We are pleased to inform you that your application for admission has been accepted. It turns out that you happen to have the traits that society needs at the moment, so we propose to exploit your assets for society’s advantage by admitting you to the study of law. You are to be congratulated, not in the sense that you deserve credit for having the qualities that led to your admission—you do not—but only in the sense that the winner of a lottery is to be congratulated. You are lucky to have come along with the right traits at the right moment. If you choose to accept our offer, you will ultimately be entitled to the benefits that attach to being used in this way. For this, you may properly celebrate. You, or more likely your parents, may be tempted to celebrate in the further sense that you take this admission to reflect favorably, if not on your native endowments, then at least on the conscientious effort you have made to cultivate your abilities. But the notion that you deserve even the superior character necessary to your effort is equally problematic, for your character depends on fortunate circumstances of various kinds for which you can claim no credit. The notion of desert does not apply here.
We look forward nonetheless to seeing you in the fall. Sincerely yours . . .
