You guys are awesome. I’m seriously considering some of these.
Heck, I never thought to try Penney’s!
Over the years, I’ve found some amazing things at Penney’s. Am sorry they don’t have stores in HI anymore. I really like trying things on to see his they fall and look. Photos aren’t enough!
Lots of nice options and they’re available because you’re looking early and likely have lots of sizes! Good spot to be in!
I think maybe something like this, too, so my arms would be free.

I couldn’t find this anywhere else. http://www.haystacks.net/cart/4150/scarves-and-accessories-/cold-weather-gear/lightweight-popcorn-knit-poncho-shawl—more-colors!
I tried this on in the store and it was cuter than the picture. But it’s really light and would keep your hands free. It was the first thing I thought of when you mentioned what you wanted.
Anyways, the shipping is free. But I do like a lot of the other items that have been linked.
@Marilyn’s 3rd link at Nordstrom’s seems like a good choice!

I’m no fashionista, but I do know key largo. Where are you staying? Will you have a chance to eat at The Fish House?
Scuba dive ?
I wouldn’t wear (1) anything that had to be pulled over my head or (2) cashmere on the beach in May in the Keys. In the first case, would totally mess up my hair. In the second case, wool would not feel good on my skin which would be “glowing” from the heat.
Agree, cashmere or solid synthetics would not be practical.
This is probably too expensive, but I saw it at the store and it’s exceptionally beautiful in person. I almost bought it, but I already have something similar. I’m having second thoughts, though and may order it online. It would look lovely with your dress:

Playa Largo Resort and Spa.
We will have a car and be free on Saturday all day so we could eat there if it’s highly recommended. Scuba diving? No, none of us are certified. The couple are putting together info on things to do there so we should be seeing that on their website in the next few days.
Wow, that lace cardigan posted by Gourmetmom is stunning!
I agree about the lace cardigan.
I’ve never stayed at the Playa, but I’ve seen it and it looks nice.
The Fish House has been a tradition for us. It is right on main road. It is a no nonsense place, with good food and prices. You’ll see the same waiters there for years. Usually we go there for late lunch. At the start of lobster season, you need reservations. There are fancier places that have ocean views.
We do a lot of snorkeling. Off the main pier, there are boats that take you out to where the coral reef are. They give brief lessons on snorkeling, and you wear vests. Nearby is a place to swim with dolphins. (We never did that’s).
It says dry clean only, if that matters to anyone (personally big turnoff for me). It does look airy and lovely. For me tho, I can’t visualize unless I actually wear things. I’m sure it will look perfect on many, but not me.
If you look at jcpenneys, go to retailmenot dot com and use their coupons-Penney’s always has amazing coupons. The deals I get on curtains is insane (I have 10 foot ceilings in the house and Penney’s is one of the few places that has curtains in that length for not a gazillion dollars).
I agree that you won’t be cold, but it might be a little buggy at night and a sheer-ish layer on top like a lace cardigan could work well.
I have bad fashion sense and let my friends and kids help me out so I am probably not the best person to give advice. That being said, I would buy the lace top for which Gmom posted the link! It looks great!
@GourmetMom I MUST have that cardigan. I’ve been following this conversation as I have a an over-the-top wedding in Cape Cod in June…which is more “casual” but the kind of casual where guys wear khakis…but with $400 sweaters…and $55 socks…and over-the-top shoes…and the women also need that “oh this thing” look.
Most things that say dry clean only can be washed by hand or in a bag on gentle and then dried on a rack.
