beach wedding, help with a shawl, shrug, etc, please

Yes, but you have to be very careful because sometimes they shrink, even if you are careful and then they never look quite right. That happened to me and I had to return some things back to Costco. It’s always a risk, but as you say, OFTEN it is OK. Drying takes forever in HI with our high humidity and no place to really lay things out nicely.

The main trick to washing silks etc. is to use the same water temperature for both washing and rinsing - cold water, no heat.

@Gourmetmom and @SouthernHope - the Calypso cardigan posted above is $50 off with the code GCSPRING2016.

“Beach brands” have some cardigan options:

Nearby is a place to swim with dolphins>>>>>>

If I could choose any one thing to do, this would be it. Might look into it.

The Fish House has been a tradition for us. It is right on main road. It is a no nonsense place, with good food and prices. You’ll see the same waiters there for years. Usually we go there for late lunch. At the start of lobster season, you need reservations>>>>>>>>>>

When is lobster season?
Thanks for the recommendation. What do you like there?

Tons of short sweaters in various colors at Amazon.

I would wear a shorter sweater because of the empire waist. I wouldn’t buy a shrug. I bought a couple last year and they just looked terrible. To me a shrug is . Looks pretty, but weird when on. My DH even said, what’s that? When I looked at pictures in them…and I was wearing a maxi dress, it just looked weird.

I totally agree. I much prefer a cropped sweater style, if that is such a descriptor. But one that comes on around in the front and not a cutaway.

I agree that a shorter sweater with the empire waist works best. I know I already posted this link, but what do you think of this style that is short and ties in front?

Yes, I love that one. It’s on my list to consider.

Thanks everyone. You’ve been very kind and helpful.

I’d go for a teal silk scarf/shawl. I think that most of the shrugs and cardigans would look frumpy with that dress.
