In my school, they have a GT Program where you can place out of a class if you pass the final exam for that particular class. Last year as a freshman I took Spanish I and did really well in it and I’m planning on taking the test to place out of Spanish II. I’m actually really really nervous for this test because Spanish II is a lot harder than I thought it would be. So if I do place out of Spanish II would this help out my college apps or do you think it would be OK if I just ended up taking Spanish I, II, III, IV throughout my high school career. The colleges that I’m thinking about are mainly selective colleges.
If Spanish 2 seems challenging to you, then that means it is probably a good choice for your level in Spanish. I would only recommend skipping a level for someone who looks at the material in the next class and thinks “Wow, I already know most of this; I will be so bored” and/or has a teacher who agrees that skipping the level is appropriate. Reaching the highest level possible always looks good, but no college will hold it against you if you reach level 4. And I’m sure you can exceed expectations in other academic areas.
