Berkeley Admissions Released Early?

congrats to you all! pretty sad my name never appeared on the list either.

anyone know the answer to my question…?!

I’m wondering, if you didn’t make a berkeley account (they asked you to make an account with your UC ID info and applicant info), would you still show up in the directory?

Does anyone know approximately how many students were added before the names were erased?

Was there any correlation between Engineering or international students admitted in the names added subsequently?

They were definitely not adding all of the students who had applied.

I say this for 2 reasons:

1) First off, if you read post #157, it goes against their policy as it does not satisfy any of the “roles” of the directory
2) Second, they wouldn’t remove the names unless they actually did have some kind of importance.

We knew they would figure it out. It’s Berkeley after all… good luck to all on Thursday!

I don’t recall exactly, check the threads. The list look legit to me. Maybe you can check with your schoolmates who might have checked your name since everyone was doing db search and talked about their friends’ name showing up.

PS: they were adding people early in the morning (about 100 or so were added) before they decided to delete the ones posted. Apparently someone called admin office. That is why I think it was legit.

I just came back from school and tried this. Didn’t find my name so I almost had a heart attack. Looks like they erased them though so theres still hope :).

I’ve been creeping on here for a while. Congrats to everyone who has been accepted. I had been wary of the “legitness” of this until they started removing names… then I knew something was up xD

@Typhical
No, it’s not necessary. I didn’t create an account until after I checked, and I still showed up.

I don’t think it’s right. I’ve tried searching two people I know who already got in, and they do not appear.

Edit: Oh, they’ve been erased? Never mind then.

Yup, the names that were on there before they erased them definitely had some kind of significance, seeing as how all of the Regents people also happened to be on that list. I’m not exactly sure what it means, though. Judging from the information on their website, it seems to fall under the category of “Admitted but not enrolled”.

@All highly qualified int’l applicants: Getting into Cal as an international student isn’t exactly a walk in the park, especially to engineering. Are you a competitive applicant? Yes. Does that guarantee acceptance? No. So, don’t be too surprised if you get rejected even if you are competitive (by Cal’s standards).

The fact that they erased the names pretty much confirms this whole theory.

I’m not on the list but also know I’m not Regents. I did get an e-mail inviting me to come to Berkeley for two days to stay in a dorm, eat residence hall food, go to some classes, etc. The date choices for the visits are mid-April. Did anyone get that e-mail? It also said it is not a guarantee of admission, blah, blah…

^^Exactly.

Well, congratulations to everyone who was on the list. For the rest, don’t give up hope: anything could happen on Thursday ;]

Also, no one else who applied to CoC was on the list??

So did anybody on here who is an engineering applicant and US citizen see their name? I did not. My friend who is not an engineering applicant showed up, but it is not their anymore as some of you said that people have been removed. I guess I will just wait until Thursday.

^Well, I applied Chemical Engineering, but I didn’t specifically apply to the Engineering school. I’m not sure if that counts, but my name was on that list (not anymore, but it was in the morning).

US Citizen, btw.

That is so weird. Not in a bad way. My friend applied for mechanical and I applied nuclear and we are both not on it. Isn’t there a college of chemistry? So perhaps chemical engineering is inside the college of chemistry? Not sure.

For those applicants who are just arriving here, all the names on the directory have been erased, including the names of those supposedly accepted students.

applicants to all departments, including internationals, were on the list.

@All highly qualified int’l applicants: Getting into Cal as an international student isn’t exactly a walk in the park, especially to engineering. Are you a competitive applicant? Yes.
yea i guess that’s true. But I am really curious if the names that were added to the list between 1230- 230 EDT were primarily internationals and also would realy appreciate an estimate of the number of people.Thank you , would really appreciate it :)

Since 11 am ET I have seen the list and engineering was specifically not on there when I first looked. Maybe there were names a lot earlier today. It is a little frustrating, but I guess I might have not checked the directory early enough to see all the departments.
