Hello,
I am interested in schools that offer great training for theatre.
I want the classical training and be able to study film acting. Help
There are a lot of great programs for acting. You can find plenty of lists of these places through an Internet search; the MFA is the standard graduate degree in this field, and some top places for acting are Yale, Juilliard, the Actors Studio at Pace, Brown/Trinity, UC-Irvine, Tisch at NYU, the American Conservatory Theater (San Francisco, CA), CalArts, Carnegie Mellon, Columbia, The Old Globe/University of San Diego, and USC. There are others, of course.
But what’s best for you hinges on some other information. Although most schools teach both, many schools do specialize in and/or send more of their graduates to different kinds of acting: some may specialize in training you for the stage, while others may specialize in training you for film (or TV). Some of these schools are in big centers where there are tons of opportunities to observe and perhaps participate in film and/or theater (like the ones in New York and southern CA, as well as other big cities) and some are located further away from those centers but still may have excellent training.
