Now i know that most of you have no clue what im talking about but for those of you who do, which of the 16 personality types would be most successful in business…

Personally I am an INTJ…

Functions ( in order from strength to weakest)

Intoverted Intuition ( take in information about ppl, and make connections between ppl

Intoverted Intuition ( take in information about ppl, and make connections between ppl… See the big picture from a subject point of view, make connections between subjects)

Extraverted THinking… I react to my subject oriented intuition w/ outward objective logic…this allows me to look at things objectively

Introverted Feeling … I feel towards the subject, but this is a tertiary function which means that its the weaker reactor compared w/ my outward thinking, i have deep emotinos about relationships…its just hard for me to express them

Extraverted Sensing… its hard for me to pick up the little things around me, well “objects”…its my weakness, not outwardly observant

These are my functions…we live mainly in our two main ones

I’m ENTP. I have no clue which personality’s best for business. Business is such a huge field and each function is so different: people who are suited for finance or management may be completely unsuitable for marketing or sales, and vice versa. So basically, there’s a business function out there for every type of personality on the face of the planet.

I agree, I think really any personality type can wind up fitting in business, because there are just so many varried opportunities. Perhaps some may be more suited to certain jobs like a manager I suppose, but overall I would say it makes absolutely no difference.

Keep in mind that the MBTI measures your personality’s preferences–how you prefer to interact with your environment, how you prefer to learn about your environment, etc.–and is not a direct measure of personality. You cannot predict someone’s future success in any field based on their Myers-Briggs scores. Either an introvert or an extrovert can be a very successful CEO, for instance, if you learn to manage yourself effectively. The Myers-Briggs is really more useful for learning how to interact and negotiate with others than it is to predict “fit” for a job (even though it is still used for that purpose).

well ryanbis… there are definite trends however for ppl who rise to CEO positions for instance, ISTJ INTJ ENTJ ESTJ, are the most likely to elevate to upper management statistically becasue of the eT ( outward thinking mentality)… the TJ shows objective decisiveness…and trust me this is all relevant…but for me personally, i was just wondering which personalities would be best, for instance i know Donald Trump is an INTJ, and id probobly say that he has been rather successful in business… i know Bill Gates is an ENTJ…personally im just wondering which ones would be best

Personally, I would trust the person who is finishing up a psychology and a business degree who has done research utilizing the Myers-Briggs framework, but that’s just me.

“personally im just wondering which ones would be best”

And I’m telling you that there is no “best,” especially when you don’t define what “success” is.

lol ryanbis… obviously if we’re talking about business, success is measured both monetarily and the level of management you’re at… so if im saying which personality would be “best”, im gettin at the fact as to which ones would reach the highest level in their fields…and a degree in psychology or business does not necesarily mean you’ll be good at seeing the connections between personalities…unless you’re either a INTJ ENTJ …possibly INFJ or ENFJ, but im going to ventrue you’re not one of the last two…anyhow, it all does matter and most of the time , your intuitive ability to see connections between ppl cannot be taught… anyways Ryanbis what type are you?

“…and a degree in psychology or business does not necesarily mean you’ll be good at seeing the connections between personalities…unless you’re either a INTJ ENTJ …possibly INFJ or ENFJ, but im going to ventrue you’re not one of the last two…”

“anyhow, it all does matter and most of the time , your intuitive ability to see connections between ppl cannot be taught”

How arrogant and uninformed. I’m willing to wager that you’ve done very little reading or research on this topic and what little reading you have done did not consist of actual research performed using the Myers-Briggs or the Keirsey-Bates. You don’t seem to particularly understand the uses or the limitations of the MBTI and have been foolish enough to take some of the things that HR consultants publish at face value.

actually ive done extensive research and understand the fundamentals of it all very well…yes i am only a senior in HS, but i am very well informed and have a deep passion for all of this… I am personally more interested in the application of myers briggs…so i am more familiar with socionics and its application…but trust me, the only reason i am being this “arrogant” is simply because it all makes sense…my only goal is to understand people and how they all work together , e.g INTJ ESFJ
INTJ ESFJ
IN EF
ET IS
IF EN
ES IT
Right there, look at the balance between the two types, its beauty in its most fundamental form… 4 of my closest friends are ESFJ’s… thats called compatibility…ryanbis i may be young, but trust me, i wouldnt waste my time nor yours, unless i was 100% CERTAIN about what i know…obviously i understand your reasoning, and the fact that i am coming across soo arrogantly, but i really dont mean to… i do all of this for myself, and it is truly something i have a deep passion for…but yeah w/ever, oh yeah about

“have been foolish enough to take some of the things that HR consultants publish at face value.”

obviously i have not taken anything by its face value, i look at personalities to simply know who i am working with, thats it, ive done it w/ several teachers of mine and explained to them how they work, its beneficial to them and myself at the same time…this is not a contest

ENFP’s usually possess amzing ideas w/ their eN and are usually extremely good at w/ever they do, i know a girl whos one of the best writers ive ever seen whos an ENFP but… she also doesnt go to class and isnt too dependable…so yeah ENFP wont lead to a CEO…but that doesnt matter cuz thats not somtin you’d like anyway…good luck w/ whatever you do

ummm B_B…you can go online and take the myers briggs test…its free…i forget the site…but its only right like 70% of the time… so its possible it may be off…this happens bc its usually hard b/c alotta times ppl cant really read themselves and have a kinda distorted view of how they work… but generally its semi reliable… so yeah go to it and take it…then tell me what you had…i could tell you alot about it if you want…good luck

“actually ive done extensive research and understand the fundamentals of it all very well…yes i am only a senior in HS, but i am very well informed and have a deep passion for all of this… I am personally more interested in the application of myers briggs…so i am more familiar with socionics and its application…”

Please tell us, then, about the extensive research you’ve done, because I am unable to locate a single APA journal containing an article about socionics. I have never heard of this term before and from what I can tell, it’s a bunch of junk science made up by a European woman.

“…is simply because it all makes sense…”

Lots of things make sense, but it doesn’t mean that they are correct. Nevertheless, it doesn’t make sense to me that you can predict someone’s career prospects based on their personality preferences, particularly since they are pliable and change over time.

“i do all of this for myself, and it is truly something i have a deep passion for…”

Which is nice, but that doesn’t mean that you should go around and pretend that you know everything about someone (including whether or not they will succeed in a particular career) just by their scores. You don’t know that. Stop pretending to.

"How do you determine which type are you? "

The actual Myers-Briggs is not available online (at least it shouldn’t be) since it is owned and copywritten. You may be able to get it at your library. There are lots of knock-off tests available online. You can find the Keirsey Temerament Sorter in the book Plesae Understand Me, which results in the same scores about 75% of the time (though it is only about 60 questions, while the Myers-Briggs is 160).

ryanbis… i am not pretending by any means…here do this for me look at two or three of your best friends…and see if this is true they will be completely opposite of you…e.g. INFJ ESTJ…complete opposites , but both take in information towards the subject and react outwardly towards the object… you may have a point about the career part and i think you miss understood where i was gettin at, but surely you know that an esfp or isfp would never become ceo’s… and ryanbis if you actually look at what im saying objectively and assuming you can see distinct patterns between ppl you will clearly see a myriad of relationships where compattibility is taken place…i’ll give you some examples…and if you really do know what your talking about…youll see the patterns and will be able to see them with the ppl around you

Almost all marriages result in perfect compatibility relationships, well at least the good ones… obvious examples… Bill Clinton ESFJ , Hilary INTJ… umm Ben Aflec or however you spell it and jennifer Garner INTJ/ ESFJ respectively…i could go on for hours about the relationships i see everyday, but obviously that wouldnt work here…but trust me it all works, it fundamentally makes sense…we look for balance naturally and surround ourselves w/ ppl who fulfill what we cant … its a natural protection of the other

The ENTJ’s outward thinking towards the object world helps the ISFJ’s inward thinking toward the subject…also the ENTJ’s ability to make connections between ppl helps the ISFJ’s very weak ability to make connections between Objects…THe ISFJ’s ability to Sense people and perform linear tasks …such as do this then this then this…etc…labwork or w/ever…helps out the ENTJ’s weak outward sensing abiltity…and finally the ISFJ’s outward feeling helps the very weak inward feeling of the ENTJ…example Bill Gates…i have on clue who hes married w/ but im going to strongly guess its an ISFJ or INFJ… but more than likely its the ISFJ…in case you didnt notice…each personality looks at the world slightly different than the other eN iN eT iT …etc…which creates a balanced way of looking at things and allows the pair to be more apt to survive in their environment…but the fact that each pair’s strong attributes protect and the key word is protect the other… a subconscious form of respect is given to the other… everybody in the world is affected by their relationships w/ other ppl and in the end we all look for that balancing personality to protect us from the world we cant…ryanbis trust me big guy…im not an ignorant hs kid who just latches on to something and thinks he understands it, i know the principles governing people, and am continually trying to learn more everyday…do i know everything…obviously not…but i know more than you could ever expect from someone in my position

FrddyGV…you should be very successful …honestly im a lil jealous of that personality…but oh well, being an INTJ has its benefits
