Saint Louis University

Marquette

…and many, many more :)

From what I can comprehend, few people on here are aware of these competitive private schools:

.Brandeis
.Wellesley

I know this list isn’t as great as the previous poster’s but I felt compelled to add a couple more to consider.

Given that Carleton U is in Canada, I would be extremely surprised if posters had heard of it.

Most of these excellent schools aren’t completely unheard of on CC, but they fly under the general public’s radar:

Sorry, Carleton College. My bad.

I think Florida Atlantic University is looked down upon but people are not realizing it’s potential.

Non-flagship state schools.

Have to disagree about Colgate. I believe it gets the most applications of schools in the LAC-top tier - category. That means more than Williams, Amherst, etc. So it is NOT unknown.

Harvey Mudd College.

Ursinus College, Hobart & William Smith, Hendrix College, Southwestern University, Clark University, Knox College, Coe College, and others are decent schools that aren’t well known, at least among people I know

Clemson University is pretty unknown

^^^Never heard of it. ;-)

haha well the University of South Carolina is the flagship university :)

I have heard of USC. When did it move to South Carolina?

well USC decided that it wanted a branch campus for people not good enough to get into an elite school such as the one in LA so it opened up a branch in Columbia

It just occurred to me that the two USCs have singularly inappropriate mascots when considered in tandem.

^^^^LOL. Never thought of that!

SUNY Geneseo - At the top of every list for best Public LACs…The college recently got some attention on the weekend edition of the Today Show.
