Best Uses for Bed Bath and Beyond Coupons

I’ve saved up a good supply of BB&B coupons to use for college and dorm gear. Most are 20% off coupons.

What do you think are the best uses for these coupons in the store?

One of these:

[Fiber Bed/ Feather Bed, Mattress Pads, Bedding - Bed Bath & Beyond](http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/stylePage.asp?RN=560)

Send your student to college with your/their existing sheets, towels, etc. Use the coupons to buy new replacement items for your home.

Couldn’t agree more about the fiber bed. The sheets can be purchased cheaper elsewhere but a comfortable bed makes a real difference.

As for bringing sheets from home, none of my beds were twin XL and regular sheets didn’t fit.

Use the 20% coupons for the most expensive items. If you are flying to college, use their preselection service. Scan the items your daughter wants, they will be packaged and ready for you to review at a BB&B close to the college. You pay for the items with coupons when you pick them up. Have fun shopping.

Thanks for the hint about the fiber bed. I will definitely make that a priority for one of my coupons.

What are the expensive items that I might be purchasing, so I can prioritize? The fiber bed clearly falls in that category, and a set of sheets (she was gifted one set already.) We don’t have TWIN XL at our house so will need to purchase. Other ideas for pricier items she might want/need?

Thanks for the feedback!

A hint about BBB. I recently moved and had to buy a lot of new curtains, curtain rods, bathroom accessories, etc. I asked an associate at BBB to help me out with my shopping spree. At the end of all that, I realized I’d left my pile of coupons at home. She quickly told me not to worry and she’d give me 20% off the entire order anyway. Bottom line is, BBB knows that people hoard the coupons, and it appears it doesn’t really matter whether you have the actual coupons when it comes to getting the discount.

So if you’re going to buy a lot of things, ask an associate if they will give you the discount on everything. It doesn’t hurt to ask.

Axe…not all stores will give a discount without a coupon…ymmv on that. I REALLY embarrassed DD when she went to college. I needed 8 coupons at the BBB register and boldly said “does anyone have any extra coupons?”. A nice lady opened her purse and pulled out a huge clip filled with coupons and gave me all I needed! I thought my daughter was going to DIE.

About once a year, we get one that is 20% off the entire purchase! I’ve used that for sets of dishes and cookware as wedding presents.

I used our stash for a featherbed and sheets, but didn’t get high quality XL sheets, but in-between. The featherbed was loved by both girls. I also got bed risers for one and used the rest for things for me. : ) I found Walmart cheaper even with coupon for pillow covers, things like that.
The only coupon you can’t use expired is the 5.00 off 15.00 you get in the mail. I found those they are strict about, the others, no.
Also online coupons if you subscribe have to be used online.

Ah, that’s good to know, thumper1. Maybe I just got very lucky, or it was because the associate had spent so much time with me she didn’t want to risk losing the sale.

Isn’t it fun to embarrass the kiddos once in a while? :D

The BB&B near me told me that they don’t care about the expiration date either. So don’t throw them away if they expire.

Oh and keep them IN your purse…I had mine in the seat part of the carriage, getting ready to check out, saw a display of towels, walked a few feet, picked out a couple, went back (less than a minute) and realized they were gone. My stupidity but just a reminder.

Desk lamp, pole lamp, comforter, surge protector strip, alarm clock, lounge chair, dryer rack, iron, portable iron board, storage containers, hangars, quick dry towels, bedrest, etc. I know you can purchase these items for a few dollars less, but I enjoyed the “one-stop” shopping and having it ready at the BB&B college store as we drove a small car and did not have a great amount of room.

My local BB&B takes coupons that have long expired but my d had a problem when she was shopping on her own in Rochester and they would only take ones without expiration date.

Our BB&B will take expired coupons–even the $5 off $15. Mostly I’ve been getting the 20%.

We bought the slim fuzzy hangers, they made a big difference in how much “stuff” D could get into her closet. She likes to hand nearly everything…

I use expired BBB coupons all the time.
Our store decided to limit the number of coupons you could use at one time.

Didn’t stop me. I excused myself from the line, wandered over to the manager at the customer service desk and asked politely if I could use ALL my coupons for sons college gear.

No problem at all, of course several hundred dollars anyway!
SON was MORTIFIED.

Our local coupons say 20% if you use now (for certain dates), 10% if you use later. Our local BBB accepts the outdated coupons, but only applies the 10% savings. Do yours take the full 20%?

Ours takes the 20% off ones even if they are expired and yes they do give me the 20% off.

Ours will also give the full 20% off even for expired coupons and they accept expired $5 coupons. Unless they recently changed their policy…
Fingers crossed that this is not the case!

Yes, here in northern nj they accept all their expired coupons.
