Best/Worst Admission/Rejection Letters

Clark has a really cute “You got in!” video!

Smith’s early RD acceptance letter came in this unsuspecting typical-sized envelope. The letter itself was delightful with a personal note referencing my personal statement and personally signed by the dean of admissions!

Alfred University’s was nice… It was this glossy purple folder, and since I got one of their top scholarships, they wrote me a specific personal letter telling me what they liked in my essay and EC’s. (They also sent me a holiday greeting card in December)
U of Michigan actually sent me an email first. They ended it with “How does it feel to be a WOLVERINE?” I got so excited, hahaha. Then they also sent a nice blue folder.
I don’t even remember SUNY Oneonta’s haha. That was early and a safety.
Waiting on WUSTL, Mt. Holyoke, and Skidmore!

Drexel’s was very nice.

It came in a huge yellow folder. In it had the admission letter and also have 4 booklets that were organized VERY nicely. I also received a HUGE poster (like half the size of a door) and also received 4 very nice postcards to mail to famiily and friends.

Appalachian sent me this new student guidebook a couple weeks after my acceptance. I guess they don’t want a fat acceptance to kill the suspense? I don’t know. It was pretty informative, it made me excited about going: [New Student Guidebook 2012](<a href=“Appalachian Student Guidebook 2012 by Appalachian State University - Issuu”>Appalachian Student Guidebook 2012 by Appalachian State University - Issuu). They also gave me a username and password, I have my own student account before even committing! There was also a coupon for a free bookstore item, which I used to buy a bumper sticker on my campus tour, and a link for a free ringtone of their fight song.

Greensboro, for their part, sent me a DVD about a week after my acceptance, it had the same video that you can see here - [Greensboro College Tour - YouTube](<a href=“Greensboro College Tour - YouTube”>Greensboro College Tour - YouTube) I will agree that there is “something special about the place,” otherwise such a small LAC wouldn’t have held my attention for so long. (not a very good video, however)

USC (southern california) had a really nice acceptance packet. I wasn’t even expecting it until April, but when it came in mid January I was thrilled out of my mind. Had the school seal and “Welcome to the Trojan Family” printed on the cover of the folder. Feels good, man. Acceptance letter was kind of generic in my opinion, but I felt good anyway.

Rochester had a nice packet. The folder had “Welcome” printed on it in a bunch of languages. Though, there was a post-office sticker on it that said “OCR Reject” and I nearly shat myself when I saw that. Not sure what that means, but I got in. Letter was nice, it even mentioned some stuff I said in my essay.

Wash U’s waitlist notification was online, and emotionless. I don’t know what to say about it.

Case Western Reserve gave me a free tshirt. I’m a sucker for free stuff. Its letter was also semi-personalized.

Rensselaer’s online decision was nice, but kind of generic. It apparently has a music track in the background of what I think might be their fight song.

Waiting on five more. Three weeks has never seemed so long. Good luck, folks!

Barnard’s ED rejection letter said something about Barnard being a very competitive school, and pretty much made me feel bad for making them even read my application. Penn State’s acceptance letter on the other hand came with a brightly colored folder and seemed genuinely excited!

The University of Cincinnati’s acceptance was great. The envelope was pretty huge, and they even sent a small pouch and a cardboard camera saying “Picture yourself at UC” . Pretty awesome!

UDel wins the award for best envelope. It is bright (neon) yellow with large shiny blue letters saying congratulations. The brochure inside also had the student’s name printed in one of the page titles.

The e-mail for Binghamton had only a picture with the words:
Congratulations you’re the one we want.

If you click on it there’s a cute little video.

It creative but a little confusing at first.
I was like:“What? Does this mean I’m accepted???”
Lol

The Maryland acceptance was really nice! It was this pretty folder with pictures of the university on it, and it had a Terps magnet :)

University of Washington’s acceptance letter was pretty cool. It was in a small envelope that was the color of curry(gold? :P) with purple letters that said “the BIG envelope”. Cute husky paw print on the back where it was sealed :)

Seattle University’s acceptance was better IMO. Hand written note from the admissions guy. And it wasn’t a generic “congratulations”! It actually referenced back to my essay and extracurriculars! It really made me feel like I was an individual student and not a mass of student bodies that they just accept/reject.

And Georgia Tech…well…it was all virtual :stuck_out_tongue: Haha no letter, no physical acceptance…I just had to check online. There was an option to view your admission letter(online) though…not sure if eco friendly or indifferent…But great school nonetheless~ That was only last week though so perhaps there’s something else that’s coming in the mail soon?

Ringling College of Art and Design

I knew the second my mom threw it on my face while I was sleeping that I was accepted but still, I wasn’t expecting it until later in the month. I didn’t even open it for like 6 hours, I just enjoyed the thought of it.

The seal on the package read “You Might Want To Open This” So amazing to see those words!
Inside I got my letter and commitment and housing forms but also two really awesome graphic door hangers, a really pretty lanyard with a cool sample Id card, a check list, and a key labeled “Your Key to a new Life”. I also got a mini sketchbook and an invitation to Accepted Student Day. I don’t know if the letter was written specifically for me, but it sure sounded like it.
Probably doesn’t sound that spectacular but you should see the view"BOOKS" and preloaded flash drives, and student comic books and other booklets and full sized posters they sent out even before you get accepted

Oh, and I guess I should mention that the letter was dated my BIRTHDAY, 3 days earlier, BEST. PRESENT. EVER.

UCSD’s admissions letter came with 3D glasses and the envelope was in 3D
Can’t beat the cheesiness of that :D

D got 2 mailings from Becker College the same day. Small envelope said that there were still missing materials in her application and was she still interested in applying? Big envelope was her letter of admisison!

Gettysburg had a nice admissions package with a handwritten letter and cling-on car decal

Cal Poly’s was pretty brutal. A simple online message one sentence long saying “You have not been chosen for admission to Cal Poly SLO” haha pretty rough…

Worst acceptance ever (I know, oxymoron) NYU had to notify kids accepted to it’s Core Program (liberal arts) early so they could choose where to study, so we got a dry e-mail I honestly thought was a refusal at first, and told me they’d let me know about the College of Arts and Sciences and my financial aid later.

“Please know that we did consider you for admission to the College of Arts and Science. We will share more detailed information about the Core Program, as well as information about financial aid (if you applied and qualify for assistance), when we provide your official admission decision before April 1. In the meantime, please feel free to peruse our Liberal Studies viewbook to learn about the Core Program.”

Look at all that exciting style!

Drexel University- accepted, like someone said before they send a huge package with a large poster, postcards to send to family members, a cool folder, brochures, and lastly the acceptance letter!

Stony Brook- accepted, RED envelope, nice invitation card and an acceptance letter!

University of Rochester- wait listed…plain white envelope with 2 pages. One telling me I have been wait listed and the other asking if I want to be considered for spring admissions and still want to be kept on the wait list.

RPI- wait listed…I got nothing but an e-mail asking me to check my status on their website. Then I went and it told me I was wait listed…ha…ha…

I’m still waiting on NYU Poly and Binghamton.

UCSD’s was great! It had a pair of 3D glasses attached to their 3D packet, it made me so excited!
