"Better Call Saul" starts tonight - are you in?

The “Breaking Bad” spinoff starring Bob Odenkirk starts tonight at 10 PM on AMC, with a second episode scheduled for the show’s actual time slot on Monday at 10. The advance reviews have ranged from very good to excellent. The NY Times says :

Here’s the full review: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/02/06/arts/television/better-call-saul-a-breaking-bad-spinoff-on-amc.html?src=me I’ve always liked Bob Odenkirk’s acting work, and - big bonus - the show will bring back Jonathan Banks as Mike. Hoping for a great show and maybe some Emmy recognition for these guys.

Thanks for the reminder. I’ve been anxiously awaiting this show!

I’m in. Last saw Odenkirk as the bumbling police chief on tv Fargo. Took me a while to recognize him. Acting.

There are suggestions that many of the other Breaking Bad crew will make at least cameos on Saul–Mr White and Gus with an intact head.

Anyone catch Dean Norris as Ben Franklin on Sons of Liberty?

It’s all good, man.
Looking for Huell.

Very excited about this!

We’re in. From what I’m reading in reviews, you should hang in there past the first couple of episodes

Oh boy am I in!

Absolutely! My son says the show is supposed to be as good as “Breaking Bad.” I adored “Breaking Bad,” so I’m game.

I’m in!! I may have to watch it on demand (…some of us need our beauty sleep…) but I a SO READY for this.

I’m such a huge “Breaking Bad” fan…

Oh, good–I was hoping someone would start a thread on this. I love Saul, Mike and Huell.

I only recently binged on Breaking Bad and I can safely say it is the best show I have ever seen–by far. The writing, the character development, the acting, the details, the way it’s shot…all brilliant.

Tonight I will be making the rather abrupt switch from Downton Abbey at 8 to Better Call Saul at 9.

“abrupt change” indeed, @sally305 - now there’s some cultural whiplash waiting to happen.

SO IN!!

Lawyers LOVE Saul.

Haha @frazzled1. I love the idea of “cultural whiplash.” So true!

@sally305, I dumped Downton for “The Walking Dead” last week - they’re both on at 9:00 pm here. Although I do love the Granthams, they are no match for zombies and Daryl Dixon!

Thank goodness for on demand…

Well… now we know how he met Mike and Tuco!

Very interesting. Looking forward to tomorrow night.

Watched it. Is tomorrow a repeat or episode 2? Already hooked.

It’s episode 2 on Monday night. I think then Monday nights will be its regular night.

Very happy with the first episode! I don’t know how many people watching are unfamiliar with BB, but I do think “Better Call Saul” could stand on its own. It’s just a lot of fun to see those parallels. Saul beating on the trash basket of course made me remember Walt beating on the paper towel dispenser - loved that.

The stakes aren’t as high for Saul as they were for Walt in the pilot episode of BB, but I don’t mind a slower start and don’t expect any other show to resonate emotionally with me the way BB did. Bob Odenkirk’s performance was excellent, I thought; there was a lot of depth and I could see where that brazen obnoxiousness came from. Some critics hadn’t liked the brother subplot with Michael McKean, but that, so far, is my favorite aspect of this new show.

I loved the opening to this pilot episode. It really set the tone for the telling of Saul’s story and I can’t wait for tonight’s episode. I knew we’d see Mike in the series from the promos but was surprised to see another BB character so soon.

Good episode. We were pretty excited to see Tuco.
