Denied Wisconsin. Poor kiddo was heartbroken. I hope our Pitt and Mich State visits are happy ones…we are doubtful about Kelley School chances with Indiana.
Sorry to hear that! We still aren’t able to get in the portal.
Gosh that’s tough; hoping you find out soon. Crossing fingers for you.
I think you’ll be Kelley admitted but probably will take into early April. Trust the process.
Well that is frustrating! My son had to do a password update to finally get into the portal.
DS went 1 for 3 today.
No from UW-M and UIUC. Not suprising. We heard 1/2 of his senior class applied to UIUC and 1/3 to Wisconsin.
Spring admit at UMD, but not direct to business. He could do Freshman Connections and start in the Fall. We can look into how hard it is to apply into business once there. But this is probably off his list without the direct admit.
We are still waiting on MSU to announce direct to Broad. We will give MSU a good look. There is a lot to like there, even without a direct admit.
And he is a direct admit to Kelley IU, which has been his first choice since November of 2022 when we visited (Fall of junior year). Honestly if Kelley had done those fast rolling admits this year, he might not have even applied to MD, IL and WI.
So now we visit schools and do some more research!
Good luck to all of you still waiting on results. And congrats on the ones you are already in–all these schools are great! We are all lucky to have choices!
So unless affordability an issue, you can only go to one. And it so happens that the one is highest rated ahd strong in many disciplines, even if it’s not the hardest to get into.
Congrats on a top 10 b school.
Absolutely can’t go wrong with IU Kelley!!
Thanks! He’s really happy. He wants to major in finance and Kelley should be great for that!
Nice your kiddo has great options! Wishing all the luck in the world. Who knows maybe our guys will land at the same B school…we have same plan: school visits and research.
I’m not sure how I feel about our decision to wait to visit schools until acceptances. I think the Wisconsin denial was super tough because it was built up BIG in his head since it was only OOS school we visited (with only NC schools to compare). Feel like it would have been easier news, if he had a feel for Indiana, Pitt, and Mich State energy. But, life is busy and expensive - we couldn’t have really done it with sports and would have spent thousands in all different directions including TCU (which he backed away from and deferred anyway)…so can’t Monday Morning quarterback - just sharing my inner narrative. Kid took his Wisconsin shot and disappointment is part of life; he has good options. After a bit, we started making jokes and laughing about reading his acceptance letters as therapy - his best buddy picked him up for fire pit hang and life moves on.
Hoping your guy is feeling better about things this morning! He’s got great options! I think he will love MSU, Pitt and IU when he visits.
We had the geographic luck of being able to drive to all but MD. What we realized from visiting all 5 before applying … they are all remarkably similar. I mean from major program to class schedules to clubs to sports enthusiasm. And so my guy applied to all being like … these are all good. He went to Wisconsin with his Dad. You know how he described it to me … “it was like all the others” … and he really liked it! Once he started ruling out smaller schools and schools with a liberal arts core (like Boston University and Syracuse and the Jesuits), all of his schools were kind of the same.
I’d love to know if you get that same impression visiting post-acceptance. Or if having an offer in hand helps your son differentiate the schools more clearly.
And I do think there’s a chance our boys end up at school together! All this craziness will be forgotten (at least by them) soon enough when they start to get excited about freshman year! A huge good luck to your son!! Please continue posting about your journey. I know future years’ parents are going to find this info helpful!
My S24 was DA’ed at Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin. We are from IL, so Gies looks attractive $$wise. Kelley let him in with Hutton plus a scholarship bringing the COA down to ~$50/yr. This will be fun figuring out what to do in the next three months…
Did one stand out to him after visits?
Having been to all three, I’m guessing the two out of state ones
It’s always that way…
He liked Bloomington the most out of the three. Mom went to Madison but she keeps her thoughts to herself.
I knew - of the three - and it’s just opinion - but UIUC is not…hmmmm…nice.
If budget isn’t the decider then hmmmmm…good luck!!
All three are truly fine names.
We had a private campus tour in Champaign with Mom’s friend who works for the U, but it did not move the needle that much…
100% disagree! To each their own, I guess.
What is his major? If Accounting, you can’t go wrong at UIUC. I think both UIUC and IU are both better regarded business schools.
Its Finance, for now…he started an investment club at hs, thinks he is next reincarnation of Bill Ackman.
Wouldn’t IU be less than $50k with Dean’s Scholarship?
