In America. I remember watching this with my daughter, her friend and my then 10 or 12 year old son. The girls and I were sobbing and my son (who up till that point had liked the movie just as much as the rest of us) was yelling, “this is a dumb movie! This is a stupid movie!”

I love this list, because it actually includes my no. 1 tearjerker of all time – the original Imitation of Life. They used to air this every year, and I would watch with my mother and bawl my eyes out. And this summer, my ds2 made dh and I watch The Notebook for the first time. My dh cried harder than I did. Of course, Brian’s Song. The year I didn’t cry at It’s a Wonderful Life is when I knew I had to quit my job because my heart had become hardened.

And Remember the Titans is my family’s favorite movie, but it doesn’t make us cry. We just love it.

A lesser-known movie, “Return to Me,” with David Duchovny and Minnie Driver makes us cry every time we see it. so many scenes are tear-jerkers, but the one scene where Duchovny comes home, with blood on his shirt, and collapses inside his front door just opens the floodgates.

Actually the movie I think should head the list is Old Yeller. Even thinking about that movie puts tears in my eyes, even after all these years. Sniff.

@Hayden: yes about “Dumbo” - when his mama sings “Baby Mine” there’s not a dry eye in my house.

I have some problems with the CNN list. I think of “Love Story,” and for sure “Armageddon,” as among the worst movies I’ve ever had to sit through, so they don’t get any tears from me. I’m glad they included “Green Mile,” but I certainly would have put “Shawshank Redemption” in there, as well. I can’t watch the last 10 minutes of “To Kill a Mockingbird” without crying - or the opening credits, either. Best theme music ever?

My immediate reaction was Field of Dreams (one of my very favorite movies ever; love when Ray realizes it’s his dad playing catcher and cry every time), Beaches, & Steel Magnolias. So many other good tearjerkers as well on the list. One more for our house is Apollo 13. I don’t cry buckets, but I have a few tears every time when I realize what innovation under pressure was required to bring those 3 astronauts back in a real story. Like emilybee, I cry at many movies.
