Thanks to @skieurope for posting this. I had just gotten home and turned to PBS and caught the very end so was sad to have missed it. Then figured out they were playing it back to back so I was really just in time.
I liked it very much.

For fans of Vera, just watched their Christmas special on Britbox. A little taste before the new season drops in early 2024.
I know everyone seems to love Ted Lasso, but I still havenât given it a whirl. I have enjoyed some comedies that are widely enjoyed (The Good Place, MASH), but have hated others (Schittâs Creek, Arrested Development). Looking at the IMDB list of top comedies Advanced search , we enjoyed How I met your Mother for the first few seasons, and Castle (which got more serious) and Death in Paradise (except ultimately it felt too racist so we stopped watching after a few episodes) and havenât watched any of the others except an episode here and there. So am I going to like Ted?
Your likes and dislikes are similar to mine (although I enjoy Death in Paradise), and I loved Ted Lasso.
People have different tastes but from your post I think youâd like the first 2 seasons. Like skieurope I loved Ted Lasso!
I really liked Ted Lasso, except the Coach bear centric episode. I even liked the Christmas episode because of some culturally astute moments (the best/real dish âfightâ, the leaving of cute old streets for the typically-60s tower block, etc) even if, sure, it was schmaltzy (âŠthen again, Xmas episode, can we blame it for being schmaltzy?)
Each episode is short and after 3 or so youâll know whether itâs your thing or not.
I was sad when it ended (but think they left things open for a sequel with some of the characters).
Iâm another one that absolutely adored Ted Lasso! I love that they only did 3 seasons of the show instead of dragging it out for many seasons. It really is special.
When Jason Sudekis (sp) hosted SNL he introduced himself as the star of a show that features two things Americans hate: soccer, and kindness. My wife who is not a sports fan, loves the show because of the second thing. That makes Ted Lasso differentâthe good guy can win.
Count me too as someone who loved Ted Lasso, I even enjoyed the Coach Beard centric episode.
To this day, I occasionally re-watch the âdartâ scene, which is a classic and the Allen Iverson-like speech by Ted, another massive favorite of mine.
This! ^^^
The kindness and the topics they tackled away from soccer, thatâs what made Ted Lasso great.
Just watched the final episode of Slow Horses, season 3. Best episode yet! The previews for season 4 were really good, too.
I love this show. Thanks for the reminder, with the holidays and holiday programming Id forgotten the episode dropped today !
I knew it dropped, but I forgot it was the season finale. Priority viewing for tonight
We loved Ted Lasso, more and more each season as we learned the characters and watched them evolve. (I will admit that I also liked Schittâs Creek⊠though had given up on it until my sister urged me to hang with it⊠or just skip to season 2. Again, it was the evolution of characters and friendships that added to the humorous plots.)
Ted Lasso ended far sooner than I wanted it to but well before it jumped the shark. By the end of the series you really wanted to know what happens in the lives of the main characters and players. You also came away with a sense of how to better treat other people. I do have to make sure I donât pull a Roy Kent when I get really annoyed or frustrated.
Loving Slow Horses season 3 - somehow we missed Season 2 so thatâs been great too. Then on to the next season of Shetland. Also watching Project Runway on Netflix - havenât seen it for a while but itâs satisfying so far.
I saw an ad that one of the classic channels I get on antenna tV (like ME, Catchy, Decades?) is showing the last episodes of their comedy shows (Taxi, Cheers, Bob Newhart?) on 12/31. I think it will be fun.
Everyone I know (including me) seemed to give up on schitts creek early until they were convinced to keep going, I not only kept going but watched it again with H.
For those who loved This Is US, and wondered what Kevinâs The Manny was like, Netflix has its own version. Itâs Mexican, so itâs in Spanish, obviously.
Anyway, I previewed it for you all. It sucks. It makes Whoâs the Boss? look positively highbrow.
Thatâs the disadvantage of having nothing new on US TV. Thank heavens the UK has the Christmas special tradition. I watched holiday episodes of Vera, Death in Paradise, Beyond Paradise, Call the Midwife, Ghosts, plus Christmas Specials of reality programs The Great British Bake Off, Strictly Come Dancing, and The Masked Singer.
Best culturally astute moment.
Higgins: Sam, back home, what does Christmas make you think of?
Sam: Colonization.
