We started watching this one too a while ago. We finished the first season, but gave up on it shortly after. It was incredibly unrealistic and I wasn’t even sure why I was watching after a while…
Reminded me a bit of Scandal. I did stick with that one, despite all the unrealistic things depicted.
I recently started binging For All Mankind on Apple+, which has been around for a bit but I just remembered it. Basically it’s about the space race with alternative events, starting in the 60’s. I gather each season is another decade. I was very excited after the first couple of episodes then it got into a lot of soap opera type of storylines. I’m now beginning season 2. There’s enough space race related content to keep me watching and I just wait through all the relationship etc. stuff ;).
There are a lot of nuances and tiny events with much bigger consequences. Having lived through all of it, it’s fun and fascinating to see alternative realities. I read that the recently ended season 4 was the best of all so am looking forward to continued binging.
I watched several seasons of this. It was filmed at USC. My daughter’s ex found one of their college signs left behind (forgot the name of it). I really hoped he would give it to me but no such luck
Just watched American Nightmare on Netflix last night (it’s only 3 episodes). It was so good. I vaguely remembered the case from 2015 but didn’t remember how it all ended.
Have same feelings as above about Beef. Acting was good but not sure I actually enjoyed it. It was hard to watch at times.
I watched this when it was on broadcast, and I didn’t make it very far into the first season. It was too unrealistic for either law school or practicing law --or murder, or police work, or just living in general.
My sister loved Scandal, but I gave up on that too as too gruesome.
Anyone watch Trying on Apple TVplus? I’m just starting third season and really enjoying it. Recommended on Ted Lasso groups. I don’t think they have much in common except set in London, though it is also warm and kind in tone. I do like the London settings too.
We loved Trying and thought it was such a sweet show - rooting for the characters and a show we always recommend to friends when looking for something “new” to watch.
I will add more Australian shows I’m thoroughly enjoying on Acorn like “The Heart Guy” and “My Life is Murder”. I do find the writing in these shows so much better than American shows. Started with one of those free trials for a week with intent to cancel but decided to replace Netflix with it, less expensive as well.
We really enjoyed Trying. It was sweet with some good humor too. I’m rather surprised it is not more popular because it does have the UK accents / sets and heartwarming vibe of Ted Lasso. It only had 2 seasons when we started it, so we were thrilled that Season 3 came along a while later.
For anyone who has watched Trying, and came away saying “this was good, but everyone was just so darned nice” - you should check out Breeders on Hulu. A lot of similarities - family stuff set in London - but they’re all just awful. Sort of the anti-Trying. I actually enjoyed both, though.
We just noticed that Law and Order UK is available via our Amazon subscription. Being a huge L&O fan as well as a huge Doctor Who fan, I dove right in, and I am enjoying it quite a bit. Deadloch binge remains my favorite binge of the year though. I just love that show!
I watched it back in the day, mainly because I love the US franchise. The cast is great - I think that was my first introduction to Dame Harriet Walter. But fair warning - most of the scripts are retreads from the US version.
